I'm getting a few drops on my driveway right behind the engine. The oil drips down behind the oil pan and ends up on the transmission pan (while driving). It looks to be an engine rear main seal leak, i know that the only way to replace this is to remove the transmission or remove the engine... is there ANY cheaper way or what is the cheapest way to get this job done?

there are seals behind the timing cover.when they leak oil drips down and out.my 93 base model leaks oil and coolant from this same place.

I am going to see a mechanic - my trusted mechanic who does not nickel and dime me - to see what this is. I have the same problem and he told me he has never done this job on a Camry and is unsure. Given the miles, he has suggested that maybe it is time to part ways with the car. I am going to ask him if he will put some florescent dye in it and let me drive it for 50-100 mi and then check to see where the leak is and fix it. Let you know what happens. I have to try, the car is solid.

If your talking about the cover then yes it is very easy to accomplish.

It' s a guess. First I would for any engine frost plug leaking. If equipped with a block heater check it for leak (depending where it has been installed).
If I'm wrong let us know and we will go further.
Hope it will help
