My convertible top needs help going up

In the down position going up, the trunk part of the car opens well & then when it is time for the convertible to move up it doesn't unless i lift it about 3 inches by hand, then push the button up & it finishes closing.Im curious if there is a simple fix to thus problem.

SOURCE: Electronic vent control not working in Volvo S40

Hi,
I think here, by your description, that there might be something that has slipped inside the vent holes from outside. you can try to blow some compressed air through the vent holes at the bottom of the windscreen.
Otherwise you can try to look under the dash, activate the switch and see if you can locate from where the noise is coming and see if you can reach the mechanism that control the vent. Normally it must be moving free. Otherwise your local mechanic should be able to fix that ufor you.
Cheers.

SOURCE: my 2001 S60 trunk lid

The trunk lid closes and hits the rubber bumpers on either side of the trunk. This is more than likely what is causing the trunk not to close. When they get old then they get hard. Especially in cold weather. You can adjust the bar on the trunk latch. That will let the trunk close.

SOURCE: Yesterday, on this website, I asked the following

this kind of a strange problem, you have what seam to be 3 un-related circuits that all started acting up at the same time, so i went to the wiring diagrams for the circuits to see if they share any common components, they do not. except for they all get their power supply from the same location. the central power supply box under the hood. it might be that a part of the power center has failed causing the three circuits to fail, the driver-side window switch gets it power from fuse # C15 (10amp) test that circuit for power with the key on if the fuse is good there should be power at both ends with the key on if power at only one end replace the fuse, if no power at all replace the power center.

all of the power points for these circuits are close together in the power center.

the other expert that told you to un-hook the battery was correct he or she was trying to reset the body control module which is the first step in any repair, we all wise want to make sure it is not just a soft ware problem before we send you on some wild goose chase.

check this and get back with me, i am getting ready for Church and will be gone for a few hours. but i will check back with the sight as soon as i get home.

2008 Chrysler Sebring hard top convertible goes halfway back to open then stops in the middle of the cycle.

There are many possible causes of this problem on the convertible Sebrings, the most common problems are as follows;

1) The cargo platform in the trunk is in the wrong position which blocks the rear window from folding downward. Ensure that the cargo platform is in the down position before attempting to operate the top.
2) The Hydraulic pump is low on fluid, it is located in the trunk, in the left rear corner, underneath the carpet. Inspect the fluid level in the reservoir.
3) There is an electrical fault in the system.
4) There is physical damage to one of the panel pivots, inspect for panel binding while the top is moving.

A couple questions for you;

When the top stops moving can you still hear the pump running or does it go quiet?

When the top stops moving does the cluster display "convertible top in operation" or "convertible top malfunction" or something else?

Report back with anything you find or if you need further help.

Convertible top wont open where is the microswitch located so that i can test it

It's located on the lower left of the frame as you are standing facing the trunk - drivers side. You can see how the partition is supposed to press on it. Press it with your finger and listen for an audible click. Tape it in the closed position to "fool" the car and see if the top works. It may be bad, broken, or just out of position. Or your partition my need some adjustment and is not pressing the switch properly.

Lowered the concertible top on my 2003 mercedes clk 430 (just purchased) without a problem. while raising the rear would not lock, so i locked it manually, however the trunk would not open neither manually...

make sure that you have the holder for the top in the trunk in position correctly and that the 'nubs' on each side of the plastic have triggered the switch on the right side when in position

Trunk,backend of car stuck in up position

My 2007 EOS stops with the truck up in the air, going up or down, when the temperature is very hot. The manual says if the hydraulic fluid gets too hot, you must wait for it to cool. I find this unsatisfactory as I live in a very hot state. I had it in the shop several times, then found this in the manual, and took it in again last week; the service manager at the dealer says he has seen reports of this, but there is not solution that he knows of. I am contracting the National Headquarters this week, and then an attorney if they do not remedy it as I only have a few more months of warranty to work with them....hope this helps.

2005 crossfire top wont go down

This can be caused by your trunk lid not being all the way shut .  But the most times this has happened to me the separator panel that lifts out toward you and latches to separate top from trunk space is not lifted into the latched position.. very frustrating till i figured it out.  Hope this helps helps.

Lowering convertible top

There should be latches you have to pull first to unlock the top from the windshield. Pull down the sun visors, the handles should be under them. Then push the power top switch.
