The wires have been removed and the # 1 position is not marked on the distributor cap.

take out number 1 spark plug and put your finger as to block the hole ,have a friend bump the starter till you feel air rush out real fast / called the compression stroke when it does stop and look down the top center for timing marks on the pulley and line them up on the timing cover then place the distributor in place as so the rotor is pointing at the #1 piston location, basically the dr. front corner and start there, timing order is 1..8..4..3..6..5..7..2.. now if you get all these in right 1..3..5..7 are on the drivers side front to back and 2..4..6..8 on the passengers bank front to back and the distributor turns clockwise .good luck hope this helps you.

On the VG30i and VG30E engines, align the mark on the distributor shaft with the protruding mark on the housing.
On the VG30i and VG30E engines, the distributor rotor tip should be in the 11 o'clock position.
