1994 silverado stalls at low rpms and will not restart

V-8 throttle body. stalls at or around 4-600 rpm. I tried pouring gas into the throttle body with no results. It only does this when the engine is warm. I must wait for the engine to cool before it will restart. the fuel pump has not been replaced, the fuel filter has. runs fine at higher rpms and can stay running as long as the foot is on the gas at 1000 rpm or more.

I would replace the idle air control valve, or at least check the connector and wiring very carefully. If you have a scanner, go to live data when the engine is warm to see if you can read what the valve is doing. There is a test procedure at the link below.

SOURCE: 99 silverado 4.3 vortec. engine turns over

put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Check my specs because I am doing this from memory but I think it has to have at least 61 psi and anything below about 55 is not enough. I once put a brand new from the dealer on my bravada. Abter it still did not start I replace the "injector spider" to the tune of 400 buck my cost for the part only to find that the brand new feul pump was not getting enough pressure. Section 4 in a haynes manual at the parts store will give you the minimum fuel pressure.

I'd like to get step to step instructions on how to clean the throttle body in my 2010 Jeep Patriot

  1. Purchase "02 Sensor Safe" throttle body cleaner spray;
  2. Drive the vehicle a few miles, bringing it to full operating temperature, then park it in your driveway with the engine still running;
  3. Gain access to the throttle body, and hold your thumb on the butterfly linkage so that you can open the throttle butterfly when the engine begins to load;
  4. Begin by spraying throttle body cleaner spray on all linkages around the throttle body. If the engine begins to bog because it is aspirating throttle body cleaner, quickly open the throttle butterfly to keep the engine running.
  5. Once you have cleaned all around the throttle body, spray cleaner DIRECTLY INTO THE THROTTLE BODY, opening the throttle sufficiently to keep the engine running. It will run rough during this process but try not to let the engine stall.
  6. If the engine stalls, restart it, and continue cleaning the throttle throat until you see clean metal.
  7. Pour some fuel system cleaner into the gas tank and drive the car a little more before parking it. Try to find an excuse to accelerate hard, WIDE OPEN THROTTLE momentarily if safely possible (as when accelerating to merge into traffic on a highway).
  8. Drive back home.
  9. Done.

94 jeep grand cherokee. starts,idle. throw warmup. as soon as I touch the excellerator let up the rpm drop & engine stalls.

Most low idle speed problems on these engines are due to a faulty idle air control valve but since you state the idle will go up and return to idle then i would say it is working properly i think you have a throttle body coking problem ( dirt and grit accumulates around the butterfly valve in the throttlebody ) to fix this simply remove the fresh air hose from the throttlebody and open the throttle all the way up use a clen rag and wipe clean you may use a solvent such as B12 on the rag but dont use too much 1_4_2013_4_54_06_am.jpg

I have a 1989 Honda Accord LX automatic trans. When you start the car the rpm go up to 3000, generally once the car heats up you can tap the accelerator and the rpms will come down, but this is not working...

the idle surges if this is the case take out the air intake tube that leads to the throttle body, get a can of carburetor fluid and spray around the throttle body. You will need someone to start the car and hold the gas peddle to 2500 rpm while you do this the car will shut of when you do this, restart the car and repeat the process until half of the can is used up. Now check your antifreeze level fill if needed.

93 wrangler 2.5 will crank but won't start. I pour gas down the #1 cylinder and put the plug back in and it will crank for about 8 seconds then sputter to life and idle and run fine. Shut it off and try to...

Yes...check the pump, filter and output. Also check the ballast resistor for the pump. Stop pouring fuel into the cylinder...instead, use carb cleaner and spray into throttle body (excess fuel in one cyl will contaminate your engine oil). If it runs normally after you get it started likely the pump is good (unless you have problems at high rpm's under power) Regulator is likely good as well...default is to more fuel not less.

Truck stalls

if it is burning rich, there for it will be over fueling around low rpm i do belive, which will cause the engine to flood, im guessing after you have been low rpm then go for high rpms, it like hesitaes and takes abit of a cough then goes, if that is the case then it is overfueling.

there is a way to advance/****** the engine mixture, but id say for safe if you don't know what your doing to take it do a garage, and ask for it to be timed up with the timing strobe light :) which will stop the, over fuelling around low rpms.
