I just raplace my radio in my VW passat 99 need to enter code

I replace the radio with a same brand and have 5 digit number code and only can enter 4. How do you enter the code what is the procedure?

I left my radio on for one hour, then re enter the code (the one I was trying to enter was the wrong one). Radio is working well.

The code is place at the side of the unit where you have the manufactures code. And that was 4 digit. and the code for VW passat is 1851. so you need to open the bonet and chk the right left side you will see some number and look for the one with four digit.
