Sorento LX; 3.5 L V-6, auto / AWD. Several times in one day the engine would not fire on initial starter turn. It did fire after 2nd or 3rd attempt. It did not happen every time I started it that day. Once was a warm start after a 5-10 min stop. The other time was a cold start. Battery seems fine; starter motor is not laboring. Car has 38K miles
You probably should perform a fuel pressure test to see if the fuel pressure is bleeding off of the fuel rails when the engine is shut off. If it is, you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad check valve in the fuel pump module (which will require replacement of the module).
One way to test for this condition without any tools is like this:
cycle the key ON, wait about two seconds, then OFF, wait about 2 more seconds, and back ON again. Repeat his 3 or 4 times before turning the key to the CRANK position. If the engine starts immediately every time you do this, then the hard starting is definately caused by the fuel pressure bleeding off.
Testimonial: "We will keep this handy if/when the problem reoccurs. Your test procedure seems to force adequate fuel pressure and flow to the injectors prior to attempting a start by having the fuel pumps pre-load the fuel system several times. Good idea. "
Yes. You understand. That is exacly what that procedure is intended to do. You can also check for the same condition with a fuel pressure guage, however, most people do not have this type of equipment readilly available, so this is why I recommended to try it this way. Also, if you ever RUN OUT of gas, the same procedure can be used to "prime" your fuel injectors after you put some gas in the tank.

sounds like the timing belt it has a interference engine so if the timing belt broke you could have bent rods and cracked pistons or worse. good luck

Your A/C compressor clutch probably is shot, and the A/C system is not pressurizing and pumping refrigerant through the system. Take it to a shop.

As soon as the car hits the mark of 60Kmiles, the owner has to make the decision. To keep it or get rid of it. If you decide to keep it, than prepare for more expensive tune Ups, or Preventive and Scheduled Maintenance Services. The squeaking noise means it is the time to replace the serpentine belt. It cost $30 and can be done by owner in 5 minutes, but from now you have to save some money, because between 60K and 90K the timing belt has to be replaced too with a new one. It is not the belt only, there is a kit with belt tensioners that cost $290 parts only.

When should i change the timing belt on my car?

After the timing belt most of the car dealers recomment to flush and change all fluids with the new one. Transmission oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid and more ....
