SOURCE: Mazda 2005 RX-8 wont start... ran yesterday, lights on & sounds

I have a 2004 that had the same problem. It sounds like the engine might be flooded. The best thing to do is to remove the fuse to the fuel pump. It will be listed under the fuse cover under the hood. Mine was a 20 amp but check to be sure. With the fuse removed, crank the engine for a minute to remove any fuel flooding the engine. Replace the fuse and crank the engine in 10 second intervals without touching the gas or you will reflood the engine. This process can sometimes take awhile and will drain your battery, so have it connected to an additional power source ( i.e. another car battery or jump box). When the car finally cranks over there will be a huge cloud of smoke so don't be alarmed when it happens. Lastly some words to the wise. This process CAN ruin your starter, but is essentially the same process that the dealership will you except that they will remove the spark plugs to drain the fuel and then charge you for new ones. If this process doesn't work then you probably need new spark plugs which is going to cost quite a bit. I was quoted upwards of $525 to fix this problem until I talked to a Mazda mechanic and found out how to do this myself. Just make sure that the engine is up to running temperature before turning the car off and you shouldn't encounter this problem again. I hope this helps you, and remember that if all else fails the dealer can fix it. It won't be cheap, but they will get it done.

I almost forgot, you HAVE to get the oil changed as soon as possible because there is probably gas in the oil now.

No crank no start Mazda 6 2005

Hello. It seems there is a problem with either your car's starter relay, wiring and/or ECM. Most 'functions' of modern vehicles goes through the ECM. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

2005 mazda 6 would not start engine cranks but would not start leave for a day then it just starts first crank ongoing problem

It sounds as though the engine might have flooded with fuel. Leaving it for a day will allow the excess fuel to evaporate. Try using cold start (a petroleum ether). It is wise not to use this too frequently, though.

I have a 2005 mazda 6. it was 2 qts low on oil, i added oil, the car ran fine but had a slight rattle. 2 days later, i was sitting at a stoplight and the car died. my mechanic says the engine seized. no...

Hi . Unfortunately it's a common problem with mazda6 engine. When they run low on oil the crank shaft tend to get damaged. And some times people tend to top up oil rather than changing oil between 6000 &10000kms .Yep the engine is seized cost less replacing the engine than repairing it.good luck....

RX6 2005 won't crank after a short start up to move car out of way and parked.

I removed the fuel pump fuse to stop fuel from getting to the rotary chamber which was flooded to begin with. After "MUCH" cranking [using a jumper cable from a second battery/car] and keeping the accelerator fully depressed we purged the chamber and the engine fired. When the engine started we replaced the fuel pump fuse to keep it running. Total process was longer than 60 minutes with time out(s) to rest the starter so we did not burn it out while letting the battery regain 'full' charge as this rotary engine requires a fast cranking rpm to start.

Engine cranks but will not start hits while starter is engaged.changed crank sensor.fuel pressure is 35psi

fuel pressure is good. If you are not getting any spark or power to control module and coil packs, then crank sensor is most likely bad. You can test all sensors with an ohmmeter. You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual with everything you could need.
