Sounds like a bad coil. Not getting a good spark

If you have a carb its chock .If injection its fuel related filters regulator restrictions if fuel flow ect.

something that can easily be fixed.??????? Without doing testing we would only be guessing . To many thing's could cause your problem . Hooking up a capable scan tool to view engine sensor data is the proper way to diagnose this , not guessing an replacing part's . If it does find after giving gas would not suspect fuel system , i would think a sensor problem . But like i said without doing some testing that is just a guess . Testing like shown in this video

your best bet , take it to a qualified professional

Your sterter is fried, get new one

trace your fuel line from your carb back to fuel tank, sounds like you have a severed fuel line. in either primary or return. it will start on starting fluid but won't continue to run without fuel.

Your fuel pump is on its way out it's giving you signs what you see is what normally happens when fuel pumps go out best of luck to you

bad spark plugs, cam sensor or timing, or you could have clogged cat canverter

change fuel filter- add fuel injector cleaner to tank- drive for a while- if no improvement possibly a plugged catalytic converter

About the only thing that comes to mind is a faulty EGR valve that stays stuck.
