Car cranks hard but won't start

As far as I know all the fuses are good, but for some reason it's not firing to start. It does have gas in it, almost a quarter of a tank. I think the car sat for a good while. I just bought it and the guy won't call me back. This is the second time in 15 days that it has broken down.

May have to bleed feul system. If it's injected its simple. Crank the car then take something to open bleeder value. If no fuel then crank the car while holding valve open. Should bleed air out and have steady squirts of fuel.

Sounds like no fire to the motor try changing out the plugs and wires to new ones and see what that does.

The two big categories for cranks but failure to start are
1) no fuel
2) no spark
Things to check for no fuel: a) out of gas which you have checked so that is not the issue, b)bad fuel pump, c) clogged fuel filter
Things to check for no spark: a) see if you have any spark...lots of websites and videos about this b) bad pickup sensor in ignition system c) bad timing
Good luck on further troubleshooting..

SOURCE: toyota wont start

EFI= to Electronic Fuel Injection. If you have sparks, check for fuel delivery. Another is the electronic module on your distributor, but you already said you have spark and hopefuly the right "timming" too. So you checked the current and is OK, what else do we have. The computer? Remeber that Camry,is the cadillac of the Toyota. Some even have Lexus parts. So expect parts to be rather expensive!.

SOURCE: EFI fuse Keeps Blowing

I had the same problem at one point. My issue was a bad grounding point from the battery to the chassis. I would say check all of your grounding points.

1998 mercury mystique won't start / has spark / has fuel / cranks/

Fuel in the tank does not mean fuel in the injectors. Run a fuel pressure test to see how much fuel pressure there is. Also check the injector pulse with a noide test light. The injectors may not be getting a ground to fire because of a bad fuse.

Car died while driving, cranks, but won't fire, no communication with scan tool as far as engine or transmission. It will communicate with body.

did you say scanner not powering up or you not getting any code.because if engine not firing a faulty crankshaft position sensor or ignition module will cause no spark conditions.also check 20 amp ignition fuse to ignition coils and ignition module, check ignition battery feed 10 amp fuse to the pcm.check at the 16 dlc terminal at top ground terminal 4 that would be fourth terminal top from left to right.and check bottom far right terminal 16 see if you getting getting battery power.if fuse all good no power at terminal 16 your pcm could be getting poor ground contact or problem in the pcm thats not a home fix dealership has to run diagnostic scan test look for pcm fault or wiring fault.

2000 nissan maxima won't fire when trying to start. it turns over but won't fire. it started once and ran but won't start again

sounds like it might be flooded. Try and remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse block that is just in front of your left knee. While it is out crank the car and see if it wants to start and hold down the gas pedal all the way and then relase it and back and forth and once you get it to run have the fuse ready in your hand and in front of the spot to install it. and then keep the rpm's up with the gas pedal until the smoke clears out behind the car.
