SOURCE: Tighten Gas Cap Error Message

seems that your vent hose on the tank is plugged so the tank is over pressurrizing sending the error code and not allowing you to fill it all the way unclog the vent tube and this will solve the problem

there is a large evaporative leak. keep away form ottozoo, they dont have the brain power to actually diagnose a light bulb., their job is to sell parts., if they sell you the wrong parts tough.Take it to a qualified repair shop that does a lot of GM work or the dealer.

SOURCE: My check engine light kept coming on and they

Could be a wiring issue, fuel cap got left off, fuel pressure sensor again or loose connection to the sensor and one of the other Evap hoses. Also might try changing the fuel cap. Look at the underside of the fuel cap and if there are cracks in the sealing rubber, replace the cap.

SOURCE: My check engine light on my 2006 Chevy Equinox

I would bring it back to the shop that did the work. If the code is coming out as a problem with the evap system it is not abnormal for the system to take 2 or 3 days for it to read again.

What happens when you drive without a gas cap

ok on todays automobiles the gas cap does more than just seal the gas tank. Now they run a return line to the tank. this does 2 things. it returns un used fuel and vapors back to the tank , and it pressurizes the tank to help improve the fuel pump.

Now as it is possible running without the gas cap may cause problems I am not 100 % positive that is your only problem.

It sound like the knock sensor is detecting the knock you mentioned and is trying to retard the timing to fix it . In doing so it has retarded it to far causing the engine to loose power and eventually stall. I would first replace the gas cap. then run a good gas additive to a full tank of gas to clean out any water and dirt that may have gotten into the tank while the cap was off. now the issue of the knock as you described. is it a knock or a ping? A knocking sound is loud metallic hammering noise. a ping is a ting not very loud. if it is a loud metallic sound I would have a reputable mechanic check it soon, as it could be a serious issue. Ping can be caused by bad or weak gas or cheap low octane gas. I would run a mid grade gas in it and see if it fixed the issue.

Gas tank making loud whinning noise when i take the gas cap off. what could be the problem?

assuming from the noise i am assuming your opening the gas cap while the engine is running. that noise your are hearing is prob the fuel pump. your really not supposed to open the gas cap while the engine is running. pressure is needed inside the gas tank for everything to work properly. after a while of doing so you may get a emissions code for either a small or a large leak. i recommend when pumping gas to shut the engine off to eliminate any future problems that could happen.

I have a 2004 chevy suburban. everytime i put gas in my truck a loud whinning noise come from the tank. What can be the problem? what do i need to fix it?

what you hear is the fuel pump..it is normal for those to make noise but if it gets any louder it is picking up trash and filter is clogging up which will result in a burnt up fuel pump....just pay attention to it and every no and then run some fuel treatment in your tank

Having difficulty filling gas tank of my 2004 Suburban at gas station. The gas pump constantly clicks off. Cannot fill at normal speed. I have recently had the check engine light appear -- stating that...

You may have a fuel tank vent valve that isn't working. This valve lets air into and out of the fuel tank as fuel is added to the tank and then later used by the engine. If the valve won't open or is plugged with dirt/dust/debris then it's becomes very difficult to add fuel to the tank. This problem would also cause the EVAP system to fail a self test and turn on the check engine lamp with a related service code. Often there is more than one reason a particular code like this can be set, a loose fuel cap being just one of them, and it takes a bit of testing to determine the exact cause. A good service facility should be able to test the system and determine what is wrong fairly easily on this one. Good luck, hope this helps.

Grinding/Low Whining noise when turning

sounds like the power sterring pump check valve is failing because it only when you turn, try to turn the wheels standing still to verify the noise, if noise present, replace the ps pump.

Loud engine or Muffler

hi. if the muffler is truly cracked, it will release a loud, unfiltered, noise during acceleration and idling as well. it will rattle as well. i recommend replacing the muffler ASAP.

Concerning the fill up at 7-11, there may have been a high water content that was in this gas stations tank and, this was transferred to your tank during the filling. the Lucas treatment will remove the water out of the tank and correct any damage that may have occurred,if any..
