Second row headrest rest just flops down and won't stay up, have a good fix for this?
I have a dealer with some traditional values.Rang up to ask about booking in - could always cancel if fixed - and he said "lift the fabric at the base of the seat where it meets the backrest. In there there is a cable like a bicycle brake cable. Give it a prod, fold down the back rest and then fold up again. This cable makes the headrest move and sometimes it gets stuck". Well, tried it just now - headrest fixed. Total time to implement fix ~1 minute. Great Dealer! Could have ripped me of for loads of money and I would have never known.

Easy fix.....greased the latching slide and used some WD40 the part that the latch pivots on. Before putting it back together I worked the lock and unlocked positions a bunch of times to be sure the lube got worked in well. Put it all back together and my Girlfriend is a happy camper(it's her Jeep) Now comes the next job...the suspension lift and wheels and tires...got the parts in the garage, I just gotta get off my @$$ and do it ......LOL. Ok, I have a 2006 Jeep GC, bought it used. I folded the back seats down and when I tried to raise them back up I got the dreaded floppy head rests.
Solution:
Look down the base of the headrest pole on mine it was the one closet to the center of the car. Find the pole with the spring running parallel to the headrest, just to the inside of the spring, towards the center of the seat, is the cable. The tip of the cable has a small nub on it. Seems when you lower the seat a metal piece, slightly smaller than the size of a dime, slides down the cable. When you raise the seat the piece of metal is suppose to ride back up the cable to let you manually prop the head rest back up. Chances are the metal piece to stuck about 1/2 inch down the cable. Now that you have located the tip of the cable spray WD40 on it. Open and close the seat a couple of time to get the lubricant down the cable and on to the piece of metal. The piece of metal will rise up to the tip of the cable and enable you to lock the headrest back into place.

Yes if you lift the headrest upwards it will raise and you may be able to lift it out, you may need to press a button on the seat top to do so.

You might be able to find a suitable replacement for the switch itself at an electronics shop. It is most likely just a standard switch soldered to the circuit board inside the navagation unit. I would recommend asking around. I have had some luck getting stuff like that fixed at the local TV and Radio repair shop.
The only other choice would be to take it to the dealer and either send it out for repair through whomever they use, or exchange it. (Many dealers have an exchange program where they sell you a repaired unit and give you credit for giving them your unit. They then repair your unit and sell it to someone else.)

When you you fold the seat down the headrest automatically folds down so the seat can lay flat and when you bring the seat back up the headrest is supposed to automatically return upright but it doesn't it just stays down and if you push it up manually it'll just flop back down because it's spring loaded.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, no solutions from anyone :/
