Problem with all door lock/unlock and dome light.

The problem Is;
Yesterday I was trying to set a new keyless remote control with my Saturn SL2 1996. I used a paper clip to do It. First I jumped the 4th pin and then, when I was going to jump the  8th pin, the paper clip touched the 16th pin causing a short circuit. Then the dome light went out and none of the 4 doors are locking or unlocking. I did  check the door lock/unlock fuse and apparently It Is ok (there is 2). Please, tell me what to do to fix it!! Thanks  a lot In advance. i have a 96 saturn sc2 good car untill i had to replace the transmission cause it was slamming into reverse untill it finally gave out. then my radiator is leaking somewhere and i put some stop leak its holding for now. Now the dome light keeps falling on my head so i was getting frustrated putting it back in and hit it. Bad Idea! ever since i hit it my power locks, passenger side mirror, and dome light are not working. i have checked all fuses and they are fine yet still no power. the service light with the wrench also comes on now as soon as i put my car into reverse or drive after about four seconds it will stay on but only comes on when in drive or reverse not in park or neutral. on top of everything it also stalled on me on the freeway. never done that before untill i hit that light>>>>please someone have the answers i am looking for!! i am about to drive this car off a bridge!

    Same thing with my 2001
Could it be that the dome light IS the fuse to the internal electronics. I'll replace and find out

What fuse did you check ? 10amp body fuse in the I/P fuse box . Check for B+ voltage ,with a volt meter , on both sides of the fuse . Black lead to ground an touch the little metal tab's on top of the fuse one at a time . Should see battery voltage with the door open . If there is no voltage check the 30 amp batt fuse in the I/P fuse box . For the power locks did you check 20amp locks fuse located in the I/P fuse box ?

SOURCE: Problem with all door lock/unlock and dome light.

open the fuse box on the passenger side of the console. Check all the fuses. Also there is a fuse box under the hood I believe on the driver side. check all these fuses also. The only other thing to check if your motors are working fine, is the wiring.

2003 crown vic keyfob only works with ignition in run position .keyless entry and door locks work fine.even tried new keyfob.no change

The keyless entry system consists of the following components:
  • driver door module (DDM)
  • keyless entry transmitter
  • keyless entry keypad
The driver door module (DDM) receives inputs from the digital transmission range (TR) sensor, ignition switch, brake switch, window/door lock switches, lighting control module (LCM), keyless entry keypad switch and remote transmitter. The DDM outputs consists of keyless entry keypad switch illumination, power door lock actuators, luggage compartment release solenoid, horn relay, and lighting control module (LCM).
  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuses:
    • circuit breaker 7 (20A)
  • Central junction box (CJB)
    • 4 (10A)
    • 6 (15A)
    • 8 (25A)

  • The doors do not lock/unlock using the remote transmitter
  • Remote transmitter not programmed.
  • Remote transmitter.
  • DDM.
  • Go To Pinpoint Test F .

Did you program the new key fob ?

Remote Transmitter Programming NOTE: All remote transmitters are programmable and must be set at the same time.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN four times within three seconds, ending in RUN. The locks will then lock and unlock, confirming program mode has been entered.
  1. Press any button on each remote transmitter to be programmed. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
  1. If additonal remote transmitters are to be programmed, repeat Step 3 within 7.5 seconds or steps 2 and 3 if more than 7.5 seconds have elapsed.
  1. To exit program mode, turn the ignition to START or wait 7.5 seconds.
  1. NOTE: Failure to wait at least 20 seconds will cause programming failures. Wait at least 20 seconds after turning the key to OFF or after the last remote transmitter has been programmed to activate a remote transmitter for testing or verification
tip

I have a 1995 F350 crew cab with keyless entry and the dome lights controlled by...

There are two jam switches located on the latch assymbly. One on top and one at the bottom. They can become dirty and not function properly causing the dome light to stay on until it "times" out. They can be removed and cleaned so they don't stick. Once I found them, it took me about an hour to completely remove the door panel, latch assymbly, and to reinstall everything back.

How do i reprogram electronic door locks

Programming Electronic Door Lock Control System NOTE: The electronic door lock control processor (14B001) erases all previous keyless entry remote transmitter (15K601) from memory when the keyless entry remote transmitters are programmed or reprogrammed. The electronic door lock control processor can store up to four keyless entry remote transmitters in memory.

  • To program (or reprogram) keyless entry remote transmitter into the electronic door lock control processor, perform the following steps:
  1. Turn ignition switch to the RUN position and momentarily short the two terminals of the program connector taped to the wire assembly and located behind the glove compartment. All doors should lock and then unlock. Remove shorting pin.
  1. Press any button on keyless entry remote transmitter. All doors should lock and then unlock to verify the keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed. If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same keyless entry remote transmitter).
  1. Repeat the above step to program additional keyless entry remote transmitters into the electronic door lock control processor (up to four keyless entry remote transmitters maximum).
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock and then unlock.
  1. Check operation.

I have a 98 GMC JIMMY. Remotes and Dome Lights stopped working. Car would start then immediately die. Took it to the dealer and they stated it was the Body Control Modual (BMC). Picked up the vehicle...

Keyless Entry System Circuit Description
The Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry control system provides several functions. The driver operates the vehicle door locks and rear window release from outside the vehicle using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter sends coded signals to the remote control door lock receiver. The remote control door lock receiver detects and decodes the signal from the transmitter. The remote control door lock receiver issues signals to the body control module (BCM) through a serial data link. The BCM actuates relays to lock and unlock the doors and liftgate. The BCM can also release the liftglass. The power door lock switches provide manual control of the door locks.

Transmitter Programming
Important: Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On 1998 S/T pickups and utilities, use a transmitter identified with GM/UTA preceding the part number.
With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Release the power unlock button on the door panel.
The remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:
6.1. Locking the doors
6.2. Unlocking the doors
Important: All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.
Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner:
7.1. Locking the doors.
7.2. Unlocking the doors.
Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

Keyless entry blinks dome light and does nothing else

The remote is fine - your problem is the lock actuators in the doors. They're a bit of a pain to replace - so, you may want to have a professional do it.
