Steering wheel lock symbol on dash

Without knowing the circumstances that caused the light to come on and an error being stored - I would suggest a simple fix is to turn the ignition key so lights appear on dash - but not far enough to crank the engine.
Then grasp the steering wheel and turn either left or right until wheels are on full lock, then turn the wheel to opposite lock all the way, repeat this process 2-3 times. Turn ignition off then back on and start
If no fault light appears the steering angle sensor is reset and problem solved.
Usually low battery or battery being disconnected will cause the ABS and stability control lights to stay on.

Call your Ford dealer and ask them if you car has a locking steering wheel.
Since "forever" ago, there was a were "star wheels" attached to the inside of the steering column, for the purpose of preventing theft by locking the steering wheel when the key was removed.. The bad side was that those locks can jamb if the steering wheel
is at the end of it's travel, such as can happen if the front wheel of the car is jammed against a curb when parked.
Your fix might just be to turn the steering wheel whilst trying to start it, though it may take a little muscle.

You could but would be very hard to turn the steering wheel, be careful or get someone who is very strong...

I am assuming you mean you loose power steering when the steering wheel locks up, which would be a normal event if the engine dies. Same goes for the battery light since the alternator would stop charging the battery.
Someone will need to figure out if you are loosing fuel or spark when the engine dies, then troubleshoot the problem. It may be difficult to find if the mechanic can not duplicate the problem in the shop.

WIll not shift into reverse, or will not shift out of drive? Sounds like security issue.

park brake light is often connected to Master cylinder fluid level and may stop you going because of possible brake failure

I'd'd say your switch-the lock cylinder. Isn't the wheel lock just mechanically operated?

If the SID Unit (or profiler) displays "Steering Lock Malfunction" get to your local dealer promptly. There has been issues with the steering lock module and they are now being replaced by Saab under warranty. The module is located under the steering column and must be replaced depending on the part number on the module itself. See your local dealer to find out if your module needs to be replaced.

Try resetting your 4x4 computer. You will need to pull the courtesy lamp and ATC fuses for 1 minute then reinstall fuses, next cycle key on and off 5 times. this is a common problem with an easy fix. Please rate.
