My chevy shifted normally, was put into park, and when I started it again, it would not shift. The shifter is "looser" than it was before but no matter what it stays in park. I think it is just the linkage but want to know what someone else thinks before we put a bunch of money behind it.
Sounds like it may be the pin for the shifter came out or it is loose, or possibly the cable or rod came loose or broken. take the covers off the steering wheel lower part plastics to the shift and have a look to see what happened. do not remove any thing that is electric with out disconnecting the batt

sounds like you need to change the clutch the clutch is no good if it is stickking like that also while changing the clutch i would change the clutch master and the clutch slave

To check this out you must remove the shift handle by using a butter knife to remove a horseshoe clip facing the very front of the handles shank. Then remove the shifter plate to check the cables

there is a brake switch that controls that by the brake ped

The shifter works off a shift cable which is connected to the transmission. The connection of this cable to the transmission is on the drivers side looking straight up were you can see it. The other end connects to the inner part of the shifting mechanisum where you shift
You can only get a replacement at any General Motos dealerships parts department

Also, I added fluid to it, just to see what it would do but it did not seem to be leaking....
