Neutral safety switch in a 1999 monte carlo

When i hit a bump very hard my cars RPM gauge will jump and the engine will sputter and pop for a few feet then will be fine untill i hit another or if turn to the right very far or fast my cars engine just stops and i continue to roll but when i put it in park or neutral it starts right back up? i think this is the neutral safety switch but i dont know if thats right or not, any suggestions?

Nope. The neutral switch has 2 functions. It prevents the engine from starting in any other gear but park and neutral. It also switches on the back up lights when in reverse. You have electrical problems located elsewhere.

I corrected the proble by changing the ignition module It was just under $100 at a local auto parts store

What type sound is it making? A clicking, squeaking, squealing, popping? What are the gauges doing? I would say from what info I have it would be the BCM or Body Control Module. But if you give me more info, I should be able to give better advise.

Stop by any good parts store and have them do an OBII scan (fault scan) Most will do it FREE. They'll pull codes and identify what is causing your "miss"
