I have a short after my efi main relay and I'm trying to locate where the circuit opening relay and the fuel pump relay are so I can test to see if the short is there or if I have to drop the gas tank and check the fuel pump

elroy, try looking under the steering wheel in the area just above hood rel. lever. you may have to remove the lower panel under dash.
SOURCE: toy turns over but wont run change fuel filter n fuel pump still
The fuel pump should run for a second or two when you first turn the key on, but then shuts down to prevent the engine from flooding if the computer does not get a signal from the crank or cam sensors which the computer uses to trigger the ignition system. So no spark no fuel. Check to see if you have a spark in the ignition system.

I think gas is not getting to your fuel rail.
Could be the fuel pump. To access it you will have to remove you rear seat and take off an oval shaped plate. There you can remove it and replace the pump.

Since it sputtered with starting fluid spray, we know the ignition is ok.
With the fuel, it could be the pump is too low of pressure, or the injectors are not getting their pulse.
Check fuel pressure with a gauge. Should be 38 psi.
Feel injectors for clicking.
If not, then pulse signal is not going through the electronic control unit.
Take it out and have it checked. Try places like Autozone. If they can't, then you will have to try a dealer.
