Low RPM Gauge level

I have a rolla 93 Gli 4afe engine. when I start my car the RPM level is in no. 5 but when the engine heats up the level goes down to no. 2 and when I turn on my AC the level goes down to no. 1 and almost zero but the engine never stops even if it has a low rpm gauge level. When the engine is in revolution the RPM level hardly goes up. I hope you can help me with my problem. Thank you so much.

You probably have a faulty sensor at the transmission.

Go to your local parts store, and they can give you the part and how to install it. It's pretty easy.

SOURCE: oil level gauge

that sounds like its not a oil level gauge at all. it sounds like a oil psi indicator. when you accelerate your oil psi increases. same when the engine is cold. this is a normal thing that trucks and every vehicle for that matter do. my truck has a oil psi indicator and it does exactly what yours does.

SOURCE: high idling at low temp.

Hi,

Offhand, yes this would be normal. The high idle is brought about by the auto choke whose purpose is to hasten the reaching of operating temperature of the engine. The fact that the idle RPM goes down after some time is a good indicator, it tells us that the auto choke is working.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 1994 toyota paseo: overdrive problem

does it loose heat when you set still? is it full of coolent? whats the climent like were you at? is trans. low on fluid?when was the last time trans. was serviced? i know on most cars and trucks low fluid or old fluid can cause it to do what your saying, and also cold weather. some cars have a temp.sensor that won't let it shift into overdrive until car gets to a certain temp. with your temp. guage fluctuating the two could be related. has your service engine light ever come on and then went out, when it did this? if it ever has, have it scaned and see what codes show up. it might be that temp sensor i talked about. well thats the best i can do for you RON hope it helps or at least point you in the right direction to cure your problem. I have a automatic 1999 pontiac grand am gt. the car and drives good until it heats up. then the gears shift extremely hard. and when sitting in idle you can hear a loud winding noise coming from my...

Check the transmission fluid level. Also check the rear differential if your car has one ( I think the 99's were still rear wheel drive) for fluid. If either of these are low, the fact that things are fine indicates that the low fluid level is causing problems. Also, the trans fluid should be a nice pink color. If it isn't then the transmission is not in good shape and should be looked at again by the rebuilder. If the fluid levels are fine, have the rebuilder check the trans again to see if he missed something.

The issue with the temp gauge is entirely separate except if you mean that the car begins to heat up when the shifting problems are occurring. If the temp gauge goes way up then comes down quickly regardless of how the car is being driven, the thermostat may be sticking and should be replaced. If the car is hard to drive and then starts overheating, the transmission may well be defective and causing the engine to work harder than it should.

1998 subaru forester overheating heater blows cold air

Any chance of a head gasket leak? Is the coolant level still full? These were known for head gasket issues. Coolant is a closed system and level will not drop unless there is a leak. Make sure there is no air in the system. Replace the radiator cap to make sure that it is operating properly.

I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer v8 and I want to know why when I am on the interstate at 60 mph or higher, my truck starts to roar.

Does it "roar" all the time? It could be the fan clutch engaging and the radiator fan spinning at full speed. Watch the temp gauge and the RPM's when it does this..the RPM's should stay the same and the temp gauge should go down. I would also check your coolant level as low coolant cause the engine to run hotter and at highway speed the water will circulate faster making the fan clutch engage due to the extra heat.

I have an 02 wrangler and the oil preasure goes down when Idling is that an oil pump going bad?

First we would need to know when this occurs. Asuming the oil level is at the full mark!. If the pressure goes up during acceleration and down at idle when engine is fully warmed up, then this is normal. An engine requires 10 psi of oil pressure per 1,000 rpm ( ex. 20 psi at 2,000 rpm, 25 psi at 2,500 rpm, and so on ) . If the gauge is moving back and forth erratically at idle , i would say the gauge is bad. If it drops to 0 while accelerating I would say your oil pump is bad. If from time to time it seems to work and other times it seems not to work, I would say the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is bad. If the pump failed you would start to here a Knocking noise from the engine in a short period of time. Use the above scenario's to narrow down what it may be.
