Replacing spark plugs

How can I replace the spark plugs from a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero. By looking at the engine, it seems like I have to remove lots of parts/components just to change the spark plugs. All these parts/components are mounted right on top of where the spark plugs and spark plug cables are. Are there easy way to change it? Or should I just take it to the auto repair shop?

Unless you have a specific issue with the plugs , don't waste your money changing them
the v6 engine has the rear plugs as platinum plugs because it is near impossible to change them and modern engines
( manufacturer design fault in the location of the engine and so they fitted special plugs before installing the engine )
plugs last the life of the engine
if you are doing a "tune up" that is a waste of money as the ECM tunes the engine 60 times a minute
all you have to do for a "tune up" is to have the fault codes read for sensor problems

SOURCE: I need to change the

well! investigate first the type of sparkplugs your truck does works with! and get them! find out where are located on your engine, get the proper tool, and if you can reach them with your hands and sight, take them off and put the brand news, learn how to use the tool before before to change them. I don't know the name of this tool on english.
Your job is to investigate this tool and my work is going to the dictionary . Bye. greetings from Mexico

SOURCE: i need to replace the spark plugs in a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport

Yes, it is a very involved job on the Montero's
But here are the instructions, with pictures (wait, it does take a while to download)

http://www.monterosportonline.com/diy-perf2.html

Depending on your skill level, read them, then go and look at it, and then determine if it is something you want to do. A job like this, you do have to have a fair amount of tools, and a place to do it (like a garage).
You can't just start, get part way into it, and stop. It's an easy Saturday afternoon job.

Have you tried Googling 'Download 2002 Montero Manual'? I did it for my 94 and found a couple of download locations.

SOURCE: How do you disable the security system on a 1999 Montero

First you get the code to see what is causing this. If their was a easy way to disconnect the security then it wouldnt be secure. But if you had a wiring diagrm what you would need to do is put a resister inline. All cars are different to deter thieves from doing this. One car my take 5ohm resister while another may be 15 or 20

Firing order mitsubishi 3.5

Mitsubishi Montero 3.5 V-6n24 valve

Looking from the front of engine to the rear on the passenger side 1-3-5
Looking from the front of the engine to the rear on the drivers side 2-4-6

The engine has coil over plug with coils only on the drivers side. The spark is shared via spark plug cables to the plugs on the passenger side. So If you are replacing the spark plug cables:

#2 cyl.coil drivers side shares spark with #5 passenger side-
#4 coil drivers side shares spark with #1 passenger side-
#6 coil drivers side shares spark with #3 cylinder passenger side.

How to replace a sparkplugs for a mitsubishi montero xls 2002

    • 1 Cool the engine before attempting to remove any spark plugs.
    • 2 Remove the spark plug wires located across the top of the Eclipse model's engine. The spark plug wires connected to the spark plugs are the flat circular ends. Grab the wire around the circle and twist to unlock the wire. Lift up on the wire to remove it from the engine. Some models with ignition coils above the spark plug may require you to unhook the wire from the ignition coil to remove the wire.
    • 3 Drop the socket with the extension and socket wrench attached into the cylinder well and on top of the spark plug. Turn the socket wrench to unscrew and pull the spark plug out of the engine.
    • 4 Spray silicone spray into the cylinder well and onto the new spark plug threads.
    • 5 Insert the new spark plug into the socket with the threads sticking out. Slide the socket into the cylinder well and gently turn the wrench to the right to thread the spark plug into the cylinder head.
    • 6 Use the tension tool to test the tension or torque of the new spark plug. Set the tension to the specifications listed on the spark plug package.
    • 7 Reattach the spark plug wire to the new spark plug.
    • 8 Continue this process with the other spark plugs. Be sure to only complete one spark plug replacement at a time.

2001 mitsubishi montero limited light on service engine soon 110000 milege burning smell from engine oil ok transmission oil ok coolant ok

look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

Need to change sparkplugs on a 1999 mitsubishi montero 3.0 liter V6, I need to know how to get to them.

If there is a cover then take it off to see where the wires go. Spark plugs are installed in the two cylinder heads of the v6 engine.

Follow wires from the 6 connector distributor cap to the spark plugs.

It's that simple.

Does my 2001 mitsubishi montero sports 3.5v6 needs timing belt replacement?

t belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles,if your montero has 120,000 miles or more,I recommend replacing the tensioner also, remember that you have to remove all of the front of engine cover,so it would be a good time to maybe replaced the engine seals and drive belts since everything is taken off at this time
