Its in the glove box behind a panal .But the way this system works is its a split curcit and the oil pressure sendind unit is feed from the same fuse and also goes to the fuel pump with B+. Its a safty thing. So if the relay fails while driveing the fuel pump will still get power through the oil pressure sending unit.. The best way to tell if the relay is bad is how long it takes to start cold .If it fires up quick then the relay is good and the problem is likely with the oil pressure sending unit or something else fuel related like the fuel filter or fuel pump . I fit takes a long crank time when cold then it may be the relay because it will take some time to build up enought oil pressure to trip the oil pressure switch and send voltage to the fuel pump. Also all of the relays in the glove box are interchangable all the same so you can test this way to take the fog light one
SOURCE: cant locate or reset fuel pump relay on 89
Ok. First you can't "turn on" a relay. It is either working or it isn't.
"several electrical accessories in the vehicle use relays to transmit the electrical signal to the component. If the relay is defective. that component will not function properly." ( Haynes Repair Manual, General Motors 1988-2002, p12-5)
Your fuel pump relay should be located under the hood in the fuse box on the right (passenger side) of the car. It is a black square approximately 1" by 1". Replace it if your fuel pump isn't working as a cheap method of elimination.
SOURCE: where is the fuel pump relay switch located under
it should be in the distribution center with the other relays under the hood
SOURCE: 1999 oldsmobile silhouette van won't start. no power to fuel pump
I have a silhouette and it had the same problem
Follow the fuel pump wiring harness to where it plugs into the floor of the van--pull the connectors apart--they will probably be corroded, and you will possibly have to change both wiring harnesses or connectors.
SOURCE: 1998 oldsmobile won't start. its not the fuel pump
Underneath The Van On Drivers Side Just behind The Drivers Seat Is a Plug Square In shape It runs fuel Pump and Rear ABS....Gets Dirty And Looses Contact,Had The Same Problem But I had To Replace Plug All Together....
SOURCE: 2003 Oldsmobile Alero will not start. Already
I have a 2003 alero that would not start. It was actually a security problem it locks itself up, there is a quick fix for it though you turn the car to the on position wait 10 min. turn it off for 5 sec. and then turn it over and it should start. Sounds to easy right, thats what I thought someone found it out for me online before I had to throw a bunch of money into it, like others have. HOPEFULLY this will work for you too.
