I have a 1999 suburban 5.7 and the the a/c compressor will not shut off. The only way I can get the compressor is shut off is to pull the relay under the hood. The relay is energized I know this because you can hear it click when you plug it in. I swapped it with h the horn relay and still won't shut off. So I know it's not a sticking relay. it's also not in defrost mode. I have pulled out the control in the dash and it still runs. It seems that the signal from the VCM to energize the relay is always on. Please help

Sounds like a bad switch or button. Poke at the button with the back of a writing pen...My button wasnt working due to spilling coffee on it..You know like at the gas stations...the most used buttons go out first..Just something to check..Good luck

SOURCE: 2003 Suburban heater fan will not working.

1st attach a test light from negative battery terminal to voltage wire at blower motor and test for power
2nd attach a test light from positive battery terminal
to ground wire at blower motor and test for ground

if both tests light the test light suspect blower motor
if no ground suspect resistor
if no power suspect short in voltage wire
these vehicles are known for burning out the wire
connection at the blower motor look for discoloration

SOURCE: My 1999 Chevy suburban is stuck in 4 wheel drive.

I have seen more than my fair share of the motors binding or hanging up on the transfer case if this is the push button electronic shift 4WD.Most of the time they only actup when it gets cold outside, most fixes have been total transfercase motor and board assembly but I have had some luck with tapping on the motor with a hammer while the vehicle was running at normal operating temp.,and the truck in neutral with someone pressing the switch and there foot on the service brakes so you don't get run over.GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: horn does not sound

horn is under the hood. usually right against the grill or mounted on fender well. fuses for horn can be under the dash, or in fuse panel under the hood.

How do i know if the air pump electric motor in my gmc 1999 suburban is going out

There is a relay under the hood in the under hood fuse and relay center, it may be defective due to burned contacts. Try replacing that first.

How to turn off air compressor on 1999 ford expedition

  • Under the hood in the relay panel will be a relay for the compressor. When you locate the relay box look on the underside of the lid for the legend (layout) of the relays. Pulling that relay will stop the compressor from turning on.
  • You can also just unhook the connector on the compressor and secure it to stop the compressor from turning on.
  • If you need the compressor clutch to not turn at all, like if the bearings are bad, then you need to buy a smaller belt to bypass the compressor all together.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

1999 chevy suburban. the ac compressor doesn't engage. could it be a relay or is the compressor bad?

hi.
it is possible for either to be faulty, but it far more likely to need regassing.
there is a pressure switch in the freon system that will prevent the A/C clutch engaging if the pressure is too low.

i would get the refrigerant checked and topped up before starting to worry about anything else.

Is there a fuse or relay for air suspension for a 1999 expedition

Hello
Since you're looking for fuses and relays, I will assume that the compressor is not working. First check the suspension service shut off
switch located under the right side of the dash. If thats on, go to the fuse block under the left side of the dash and check fuses #4-#5-#20-#2
If they're ok, move to the fuse block under the hood on the left fender and check fuse #109 a large 50amp fuse it's best to use a 12v test light.
If that checks out, check the compressor relay located near the right
headlight assy. there will be 4 wires from the relay, lt blue/pink(hot to fuse #109) lt green/red(grnd to compressor) grey/red pwr to compressor)
drk blue/yell to suspension/steering module located behind ctr of dash.
Before you start these tests turn key to on(should be on for all tests)
use the 12v test light and test for power from grey/red wire at the
compressor + check lt grn/red wire for good ground. If you have pwr+grnd it's most likely a bad compressor. But if no power perform the
above tests. Hope this helps.

open fuse panel under hood and check the AC Comp fuse. If it blows again you may need a new compressor

AC panel messed up compressor doesn't come on.

check the fuse first then check the wiring inside then that is OK then check the wire on the compressor it self, its a connector might have to pull  it off and then on. pulling off the compressor is a big deal its lines are a sealed system, the refrigerant lines are under pressure

A/C sporadic compressor. Bypassed high and low with paper clip. Pressures good has Freon. Clutch tests OK. Vehicle runs for maybe 10 min or some times 30 then A/C shuts down. Maybe A/C will fire up...

This is just a suggestion but you should check to see if you have a thermostatic control switch in your evaporator this could be the cause if the intermittent problem. The switch is actually used tokeep your ac from freezing up i believe.
