my rear door switch is bad. the door adjar light goes on and off while driving and my interior light stays on after shutting the van off but shuts off while driving. it keeps killing my battery because the light stays on for so long. i bought a new rear door switch for it but where is it located so that i can change it.

When you open & then close the back doors, the interior light stays on. It stays on constantly. You have to manually turn it off. Is that a fuse or sensor and is it easily fixed?

The WD40 trick did not work for me. I bypassed the rear switch on the sliding door by removing the panel and wiring the top and bottom wires of the contacts together. Now the computer thinks that the door is always closed. Just make sure you close the door!

My 1999 Ford Windstar keeps lockng the doors and blinking the interior lights while driving.

You need the dealer to scan the Body control module while this is happening, i think you have a defective door ajar switch here.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS

My van dings all the time when under 20 mph and the light stay on for 15 min. after car is off. The door ajar light is on but all doors are shut. Is this an electrical problem? Is there a way to shut off...

one of the door/van loading door switches has failed it thinks a door is open so the the interior light stays on and the door open warning will ding the interior light should have a switch to disable it or take out the bulb but you cant stop the dinging until you find the faulty latch switch and fix it

Ford 2003 Windstar Interior Floor Lights Stay On

to repair this problem you must remove floor lights from seats and check the circuit for either a short or a stuck switch use a multi tester this can get to be irritating as the short may be not directly behind switch could be along wiring that runs through car my suggestion if your not electrically proficient is take it to an electromechanic shop or simply unplug the light from socket to avoid draining the battery.
