2001 dodger ram pickup-will loose power & hesitate while driving

Looses power while driving, bangs & jerks. If I take my foot off the gas pedal then reapply, it will pick up then slow down & again. I have to do this several times before it will stop hesitating and making noise.

Thank you JC. I appreciate your help! I'll keep you posted.

Looks like it may have been bad gas. I started thinking and realized that it started happening after I stopped at a station I never stopped at before - My husband use a couple of gas treatments and it seems to have done the trick. We'll still get the filter changed at some point. Thanks for your help JC!

Sounds like you have a MAP Sensor or TPS Sensor Problem. Do you get a check engine light when it does this?

    Sincerely,

It could be a filter, I really doubt it would be a fuel pump as you would get a check engine light. I would try the easier of the two and swap the filter out for a new one. If you are not getting any CEL (check engine lights) I sincerely doubt you have a sensor issue as well. Also I would check your airfilter too just to be safe. Let me know how this turns out.

Sincerely,

JC

My question: what can cause the car to do this?

I assume the car you are talking about is your 1968 Dodge Dart GTS with a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine has a special camshaft, Chrysler P/N 312044, which has a 60 degree overlap in the valve timing, since the engine is built to rev in excess of 6,000 RPM. The problem with your car is obviously a leaky accelerator pump. Why don't you get a car that (1) does not have to run on premium gas (because of its 10.5:1 compression ratio), and (2) uses fuel injectors instead of a wild 4 barrel carburetor made for 1/4 mile drag racing? I happen to know that that is the car you are referring to, because you did NOT say that it WASN'T!

check your transmission fluid levels and add if low..also using a white paper towel, wipe some fluid off the stick and see if any contamination is present like blackened gunk and aluminum shavings..this is a sign that the fluid and filter need changed..

Jerks and looses power on hills and flat land no engine light comes on what can be wrong?

When you said it feels like its not getting enough gas, you may be right.
Since you have replaced the fuel filter, and you are not getting a check engine light, my suggestion would be to check fuel pressure with a gauge. The fuel pump may be weak.

My 2011 corolla hesitate's while driving. The problem usually occurs when I'm driving 40mph and only last for a short period of time, but constant. It never shuts off but loses power as if I

Sounds like a throttle position sensor. It is a variable resistor that moves with the, "gas" pedal. What happens is it wears out in the position it spends the most time, say 40 mph. Then it can't properly report the position of the pedal to the car's computer, it looses connection, and the computer thinks you just let off the pedal completely, and the engine goes to idle. A slight movement of the pedal goes to a less worn spot, and the fuel flow comes back to the engine.

Car violently bucks and jerks when I take my foot of gas pedal to slow down and then apply subtle pressure to accelerate again. Impossible to drive in stop-&-go traffic. 1992 Legacy, manual. Has new...

This is timing slop, when you take your foot off the gas pedal, the timing chain or ignition has no more load and gets loose and the timing changes.

I have some hesitation when idling and going down the road my rpms will go up and down, also i have a loud bang somtimes when let off the gas. ?????

might be your fuel pump going out, as it will run fine when it is cold. Then when it heats up it will like back fire and loose power going up hills.
