I AM TRYING TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP

I HAVE A 1997 LINCOLN CONTINENETAL AND I WANT TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND I DONT KNOW WHERE IT IS?

If you will look to the front of your car, you will see three pulleys going up -down the power steering pump is in the middle, below that is your ac compressor and above that is a pulley leading into your engine, I am assuming it is the crank shaft. It is very difficult to replace yourself, you will probabily have to jack your engine up into a favorable angle.

If you can find the reservior where you add the ps fluid just follow the lines that will lead you to the pump!!!

Keep filling power steering with fluid, it doesnt leak out but I can smeel it burning where does it go, and how to fix?

dont know but 1 thing for sure i was told to replace the fan , so i had it replaced, turns out now the problem may be the power steering pump , ur fan isnt electrical it is a hydraulic ran fan, and is fead with power steering fluid and runs when power steering pump pumps fluid thru, or as simple as a heat sensor which im gonna replace both

Check power steering fluid first. I can always tell when a ford is coming up the street because I hear the power steering pump first. Good luck , hope it's nothing serious

How to replace Power Steering Pump 95 Town Car

  1. Disconnect power steering pump return line and allow power steering pump fluid to drain into a suitable container.
  2. Disconnect power steering pump pressure hose from pump fitting.
  3. Disconnect drive belt from power steering pump pulley, remove pulley, then remove pump.
  4. Reverse procedure to install. Torque pump to mounting bracket bolts to 30-45 ft lb.
