2001 Kia Sephia automatic trans seems to be stuck in second gear, when manually shifted into first, starts off perfectly fine. When in drive, very sluggish on the take-off and does not shift out of the gear it's in (maybe second gear). Doesn't shift into high gear. At 65 mph, rpm is approx 4000. Changed filter and fluid, added slick 50, problem still exists. If it is a solenoid, how difficult is changing the solenoid?

Alot of people have the same problem, including me. Changing the transmission fluid is not going to help this problem. THe transmission filter is not something you change as much as you clean and reinstall, its just a metal screen. Call Kia and ask for an "OVERDRIVE SHIFT SOLENOID" they will need the last 8 digits of your VIN, vehicle identification number, to locate your part. I am in the process of changing mine. The part number should be something like 46313-39051. That number is for a 2001 Kia Optima, with the 4 cylinder. There are three shift solenoids bolted to the bottom of your transmission should. I'll let you know what the difficulty level when I am finished.

SOURCE: 00' Kia Sephia LS not shifting past 1st gear

first you need to buy transmission fluid new filter and new gasket.you need 11.4 pints of transmision fluid.raise front of vechicle.set parking brake.block both back wheels.besure support vechicle weight with jack stands. get a drain pan.if your transmission pan dont have a drain plug.loosen rear pan bolts a few turns.remove the front and side transmission pan bolts. let fluid drain.remove tranny pan. then clean old gasket material from transmission and pan carefully.dont scratch or damage surface.clean old tranny bolts using brake cleaner or buy new tranny bolts.you have to put a tiny film of rtv silicone on tranny bolts so they wont leak.carefully remove old tranny filter and put on new filter.clean all grease grim away from tranny pan it should be **** and span because.you might need a little gasket adhesive to hold gasket in place while putting pan back on transmission.to line up bolt holes.loosely put all bolts in you have to move pan a little to get holes line up.when all is finish put tranny fluid back in.besure you put 11.4 pints back in that about 6.5 quarts. make sure tranny fluid level is right before driving vechicle.l

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that sells very cheap but very very good manuals online, without expiry

I have a 2000 Kia Sephia with an automatic transmission. It starts and runs fine, but all of a sudden, it won't shift into any gear. It won't make a noticeable sound or action while shifting from...

all of a sudden- lkike your driving down the road and it stops working? or your stuck at home? so what I gather is you have a good running car that wont move.... a couple of things to check.. look under the hood at your transmission... there is a link from your shifter to the tranny. have someone else move the lever from frive to low gear to park etc.. then you look under the hood and make sure the cable is still attatched to the trans. if it is attatched and not moving you might have a freyed cable... if none of this is working you prob. need a new tranny
hope this helps

Dodge ram 1500 2001 codes coming up 0753 1757 1762 1765 trans not shifting proper trans in drive wont shift to lower gears automaticly

0753 is shift solenoid A, electrical problem.as for the other codes they should start with a zero not a one. if they started with a 0757 that means shift solenoid B,stuck in on position. 0762 means shift solenoid C,stuck in on position. 0765 means shift solenoid D,malfunction
