Jetta used to **** when going over 60mph now it jerks right from start. Check engine light will come on and engine vibrates if car is idle (in drive). Car will start temporarily if put in park and engine accelerated. Engine mounts and fuel injector were replaced 2 weeks ago. Spark plug, and engine harness were replaced last year. Mechanics are at a loss.

You may have a bad coil pack - try moving two of them around and see if the misfire follows the coil pack or stays at the same cylinder. If it follows the coil pack, get a new one. If it stays in the same cylinder, inspect your spark plug wires and make sure the plug is gapped correctly.

Don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, but it could be worth a try.
My 2001 turbo had a similar problem when it was low on oil.
The oil light never came on, but it was low enough to cause it to stall.
Seems there has to be enough oil circulating on the camshaft (I think they told me the camshaft, now it has been so long that I am not positive).
Either way, a quart and a half of oil solved my stalling problem.
And the problem got bad enough before I had it towed to the VW shop that it wouldn't start, very much like it had a dead battery or an electrical (starter/ignition) problem, but i still had plenty of power for horn, lights, radio, etc.
Hope this helps!
Peace,
Rob

Guys, what you are experiencing is the car built warning system. When your engine light blinks it indicates a Major Problem has occurred or is occurring in the engine. When this occurs the cars goes into a "safe," mode which means all power is cut by at least half in an effort to save the car from more major damage. You can take your VW to any large chain autoparts store (autozone, advance, etc) a lot of them are offering a free engine diagnosis. Do this if possible to see where the problems maybe coming from and ways to fix them.

check engine light on usually mean emissions. ie catalytic converter, o2 sensor.

i had the same problem... Change the spark plugs and the ignition coils, All of them... It usually accelerates without giving it gas.. Don't worry about that...
