Front Winshield Washer Pump not getting power.

The front windshield washer fluid won't spray. I have checked the pump and it is fine. I tested the cable plugged into the pump with a voltmeter and they are not receiving any power. I have checked all fuses and they seem to be fine. I am thinking there is a break in the cable, but I can't trace the cable back to find the break. Does anyone know the schematic for this cable, or where I can test the endpoints to find out where the break may be and just run a new cable?

SOURCE: washer fluid won't spray, don't think it's frozen

Hello there:
if you have checked the right fuse and it is ok than i would check the wiring to see if there is a break some where in the wire or if it is grounded somewhere also check to see if it has voltage going to the motor t if so than i would check the motor itself with the meter to see if it has high ohms if so than the motor is shot it does not have to be froze to be bad but if you dont have high ohms than the motor may be good but the pump itself may need to be primed ok?
I hope that this has been very helpful for you
best regards michael

SOURCE: The front windshield washer fluid pump for me 2000

Check the wire harness to the windshield washer pump. The pump is located in the washer fluid reservoir, if the wires are good. Chances are the washer pump needs to be replaced and you can pick up the new pump st Auto Zone or Parts Source and they will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools. Good luck and keep me posted.

In my 2007 Saturn Vue there is what I think is an air pump which is cracked that one port is not connected to anything.

There is a electric motor that pumps washer fluid . Located in the bottom of the washer fluid tank .
Wash Operation (Front and Rear Wipers)
The front and rear washer systems use the same windshield washer fluid pump. When either the front or rear wiper is in the washer position voltage will be supplied to one side of the windshield washer fluid pump (depending on whether it is front or rear), while the other side of the pump is grounded.
At this point, the windshield washer fluid pump sprays solvent onto the windshield. When the front or rear washer is activated, the BCM receives an input from the switch that is activated. The BCM will control the wipers while in the WASH mode. The BCM will control either the front wiper relay or the rear wiper relay to turn on the wipers. The windshield wipers operate at low speed for 3 swipes and returns to the park position.

When turning on the washers do you hear the motor run ? Have some one try it while you listen at the washer fluid tank ! These pump motors do go bad .
turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the harness electrical connector of the windshield washer fluid pump.
Connect a test lamp from the windshield washer pump control circuit to a good ground .
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press the front washer switch.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
YES or NO !

Washer fluid wont spray

To check to see if pump is working, remove hose at windshield and turn on and see if fluid comes out,if it does then part that shoots it to windshield is clogged,a tooth pick may work to pry it loose and come out,if no fluid comes out, then pump is bad,you can check to see if pump is getting power with a meter.

My 2004 Ford Expedition will not spray windshield wiper when the button is pushed. The wipers do turn on, but no spray. Would this be caused by a fuse (the wipers do turn on) or is the motor bad?

Can you hear the washer pump running when you operate the washer switch? The washer pump is in the bottom (side) of the washer fluid reservoir. You should hear it running. If not, you can disconnect the wire connector at the pump and use a test light to check to see if there is power and ground at the connector when you operate the switch. If there is power and ground, replace the washer pump motor. If there is no power or ground, you most likely have a bad washer control switch. (You have to replace the entire Multifunction Switch)

If you can hear the pump running, check for washer fluid pouring on the ground. If this is the case, you have a broken hose between the washer pump and the jets that spray on your windshield.

Also note that there is no way possible that your problem could be CAUSED by a fuse!

no the front is not in power with rear they are seperate. check wire plug (connector) at pump,( i assume pump is mounted on or in reservoir ) with test light for power while a helper depresses the spray switch. check for a blown fuse, check switch, check wiring

Probably need to replace the pump. Separate pumps for front and rear. Check with a test light to see if there is power to the pump. If it has power but won't work, replace the pump. If no power, you have a wiring issue. Be sure to turn the switch on and have someone push the washer button when you are checking for power. There won't be any until you push it to "wash".

I expect that you have two different pumps. One for your headlights and one for the winshield. So making the following test, turn off your headlights and try to get washer in your windshield. If you hear the sound of a pump then the line is disconnected or clogged somewhere. If you don't hear anything then the pump is bad. Not hard to replace (should be attached to the reservoir), not very expensive I would say $60 in auto part store)
Hope it will help

Winshield washer motor does not run

These days, most windshield washer pumps are mounted to the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir. Where’s that, you ask? Well, inner+fender+w+text.jpgyou know that spout you pour the fluid into—the one that disappears into nowhere? Well, the reservoir is actually 2384f71.jpglocated inside the front fender between the bumper and the front wheel. To replace the pump, you will have to jack up the vehicle, remove the front wheel and then remove the inner fender liner.
