The best thing is to scan the Transmission Control Module (TCM) using a diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) stocked in memory. Then you will be full informed about root cause of the problem: rough shifting and shudders mainly in the 1st gear. So, you will know all pieces out of order, and / or necessary reparations. After bad pieces replacement & reparations, you will need to reset the TCM by erasing all DTC from memory.

Sounds like you have a torque convertor not engaging correctly. The may have installed a defective one.

Where is locations the speed sensor

The Ford Freestyle transmission speed sensor location is driver side of the transmission, near the rear of the unit. The transmission is one of the most important parts of the vehicle. You will come into problems at some point. You may experience shudders.

Where is the ford freestyle transmission speed sensor located?

I have a 95 Mitsubishi Mirage, 1.8, manual transmission, distributor driven. 179k miles. Just started today, shudder after shifting in all gears, levels out after a moment, but seems to shudder stil

I would be checking the engine mounts as the shudder is when the engine is bouncing around under load
it it has a cable operated clutch, the problem could be that as the engine is allowed to move , it is affecting the operation of the pressure plate
it may be true that the distributor may have a problem but in this case , not electrical
distributor problems are limited ,to starting, missing, irregular timing but not what you describe

20001 dodge neon

shuddering brakes means you need a brake job... If you're up to it, take the rotors off and have them turned at a local auto parts store. pick up new pads while there...

Also, get some transmission fluid. watch the type for dodge is different than, say, ford. Drop the transmission pan and let all the old fluid drain into a large pan. replace filter while pan is off. replace and fill with recommended amount. [see owner's manual or chilton's guide.

Or - take to a mechanic and tell him. replace the pads, turn the rotors, new xmission fluid and filter...
