A quick way to check the single coil pack if you know for sure which cylinder is miss firing and its setting a code you can swap the coil pack to another cylinder and see if the miss changes from one cylinder to another. If it travels to where you moved the coil then the coil is bad,if not you have other problems.
Is the check engine or service engine soon light illuminated? If so, what trouble codes were found.
Per your description it sounds as though you may have an engine missfire condition in from the ignition system.
Is this a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine.
Good luck
Usually when your check engine like is blinking it means you have a miss fire. You can go to Auto Zone and have them pull the codes and it will tell you what cylinder is misfiring. ( if you want to only fix that one miss).
Is the car missing or not running quite right, have a little more wiggle to it? Flashing check engine light is usually indications of a cylinder misfiring which could be caused by a few different things.
I have had continuous missing issues on my 1997 Silverado after i had a new engine installed 30,000 miles ago. Today I purchased a new gasket for the EGR Valve and removed it. The mechanic had re-used the old gasket when he replaced the engine and cut corners to save $2.00. I found he had installed the EGR bass-ackwards causing my check engine light to stay on and the engine always to miss. Engine runs GREAT now
Have the vehicle checked for code's . will show what cylinders are missing . Do drive it like that , check engine light flashing , will damage the catalytic converters
I have a car in the shop right now same thing - it is being caused by a misfire. Need a real technition to diagnose the problem (auto zone - advance auto can't diagnose the problem - only read the code)
mine was caused by a failing fuel injector. good luck
Possible burned valve
