Lost key I have '97 Lexus LS 400 and lost master key. Extra key I have lock/unlock doors and fits ignition slot but does not turn on engine. I called several dealers and they said I may need master key. Diffierent dealer has diffierent price ranging from $300-$800 with mentioning ECU which I don't clearly understand. Some dealer said I need to order two keys. Since they told me different story I decided to ask experts here. Please help me to replace master key in inexpensive way. Thank you.

try locking and unlocking the doors with the key and make sure all the doors are shut all the way. something is triggering the security system.

Call the Dealer you purchased the car from, and have them walk you through it. Act as if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I work for a doctor and a patient just had this same problem. She had a extra fob in her trunk so we opened the trunk with the key and got her other fob but I am wondering why the key does not fit the lock on the driverside

put the key in the drivers door lock and lock and unlock it three times. make sure all door, hood and trunk are completely closed before doing this.

On 2002 model try the following:
1. Close all vehicle doors.

2. Insert the key into the ignition.
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold
down until instructed to release in step 9.
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the
engine).
6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock
the doors automatically.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until
the door locks and unlocks.
This step may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing
transmitters).
12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming
mode.

4. Shut door.

6. Using the lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times).

7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to on position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key.

8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over.

you have to have a main key. you may be able to remove the panel and release that way. under dash. pull cable.
