It is supposed to change the radio settings to what ever was programmed at the time the program was set. Your van has settings that can be programmed to personalize more than just the seat. It stores the programmed radio station the seat settings and on some vans that have the power tilt steering it changes that too. If you do not want it change the radio settings you will need to store a new setup for the number that you use with the radio station you want.

CONDITIONS FOR MEMORIZED POSITION ACTIVATION Ignition key "ON" and shift lever in "P" position All parts of the memorized positions can be activated. However, if the brake pedal is being depressed, the seat position will not change. Key not in ignition switch and within 30 seconds of opening driver's door The memorized position can be activated. If any driving position memory switch is pushed while one of the memorized driving position profiles is being activated, the operation will stop. How to program the radio in a 96Lincoln continental after battery was disconnected

Hi,

Here is the link to the owners manual which you can download if you wish:

http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=1996&make=Lincoln&model=Continental

Here/below are the specific instructions on the radio programming (pg. 159 of above link).

Good luck & please flag if "HELPFUL". Thanks!

(from section) Luxury Audio System

Selecting the AM or FM frequency band

Push the "AM" or "FM1/FM2" button to select the desired frequency band. Pushing the "FM1/FM2" button more than once will alternate between FM1 and FM2. These functions are used with the station memory buttons described under How to tune radio stations.

HOW to tune radio stations

There are four ways for you to tune in a particular station. You can use the "TUNE", "SEEK", 'SCAN"or memory buttons.

• Using the "TUNE" function:
You can change the frequency up or down one increment at a time by Pressing and releasing either the left (< arrow/up) or - right (> arrow/down) side of the "TUNE" or "TUNE DISCS" button. To change frequencies quickly, press and hold down either the right or left side of the button.

Manual tuning adjusts your radio to any allowable broadcast frequency, whether or not a station is present on that frequency. (See All About Radio Frequencies in this section.)

• Using the "SEEK" function
: Press the right *) side of the "SEEK" button to select the next listenable station up the frequency band. Press the left (.4) side of the button to select the next listenable station down the frequency band. By holding the button down, listenable stations can be passed over to reach the desired station. Pressing the "SCAN" button will begin the scan mode up the frequency band, stopping on each listenable station for approximately five seconds. To stop the scan mode on the presently sampled station, press the "SCAN" button again.

Setting the station MEMORY PRESET buttons
: Your radio is equipped with 6 station memory buttons. These buttons can be used to select up to 6 preset AM stations and 12 FM stations (6 in FMI and 6 in FM2)

1. Select a band, then select a frequency.

2. Press one of the memory buttons and hold until the sound returns and the lamp above the memory button lights up. That
memory button is now set.

3. Follow the above steps for each memory preset button.

NOTE:
Custom memory presets can be recalled using the keyless entry system. See Memory Profile System in the Features chapter.

Using the Automatic Memory Store feature ("AUTOSET")
: If the memory buttons have been set, either by using the Auto Memory Load feature or if you have set them manually, the system is prepared tolet you use a convenient feature called Automatic Memory Store.

With Auto Memory Store, you can continually set strong stations into your memory buttons without losing your originally set stations. Your radio will automatically set your memory buttons to the strong local stations.

Activate Auto Memory Store by pushing the "AUTOSET" button once. Your radio will set the first six strong stations of the band you are in (AM, FMI or FM2) into the memory buttons. The display will flash "AUTO" and display the autoset icon "A" while the stations are being set in the memory buttons.

NOTE: If there are less than six strong stations in the frequency band, the remaining unfilled buttons will store the last strong station detected on the band. After all stations have been filled, the radio will begin playing the station stored on memory button 1.

To deactivate the Auto Memory Store mode and return to the manually-set memory button stations, simply push the "AUTOSET" button. Display will show "AUTO" then "OFF". The next time Auto Memory Store is activated on that band, the radio will store the next set of six strong stations.

The radio buttons on 09 altima are not responding when u try to change to a new radio station and to cd or radio plus when u put the cd in u can't skip to the next song

First impression is you radio is toast. It maybe some component gone bad on a circuit panel inside the radio. Before you consign it to the deep try "rebooting" it. Most electronically controlled radios have some king of logic and memory boards in them ...so treat your radio like your computer when it starts misbehaving. To reboot the radio disconnect the battery (remove the black/negative lead first then the positive/red lead from the battery), put the key in the ignition and try to start the car (it won't of course but this is to discharge any holding capacitors) and turn on the radio ...again to discharge any holding capacitors. Turn everything off and let it sit overnight if you can. Reconnect the battery. The radio should have lost all saved information (time, stations, EQ settings etc) and may now be responsive to button inputs. If this doesn't work then I'd say the radio is a goner.

Change Oil Warning won't go away.

Depends on model and features. 2009 SEL, with no rear seat entertainment:

Place ignition in "Key On, Engine Off" position, then push gas pedal to floor and release 3 times. Turn ignition off, and it should be reset.

The procedure was in the owners manual in the section about the odometer and related features.

I have no owners manual for my 2000 Mercedes S500. How do you change the radio station presets? What are the 1,2,3 numbers on the seat bottoms and how to use them? What is the ESP button for on the dash?...

To set the stations you just tune in to the station and hold the preset number button until it locks in. The numbers on the seat bottoms are presets for the seats. Put the seat into what ever position, you should also have a round green button, push that then push a number. Change the seat position and when you hit that number/hold the button it should go back to that position. ESP is traction control on the vehicle, it allows to disable it for snow at low speeds when wheel rotation is needed when known slippage will most likely occur.

1991 Dodge Spirit ignition problem

The "SPRING-BACK" Action is Originated in the Ignition Switch itself (THE ELECTRICAL SWITCH) I think that is where you should Look. On these models, the ignition lock and ignition switch are removed as an assembly. Refer to IGNITION LOCK .
Disable airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair . After procedure has been completed, rearm airbag system.

On these models, the ignition lock and ignition switch are removed as an assembly.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Remove tilt lever.
  3. Remove three Torx column cover attaching screws, then the upper and lower column covers.
  4. Using tamper proof Torx bit tool No. 440-TX20H or equivalent, remove three ignition switch mounting screws.
  5. Carefully pull switch away from column. Release two connector locks on seven terminal wiring connector, then disconnect from ignition switch.
  6. Release connector lock on four terminal connector, then disconnect from ignition switch.
  7. Remove ignition lock from ignition switch as follows:
    1. With key inserted and switch in Lock position, use a small screwdriver to depress ignition lock retaining pin flush with lock cylinder surface.
    2. Rotate key clockwise to Off position. Ignition lock should now be unseated from ignition switch assembly. Do not attempt to remove ignition lock at this time.
    3. With ignition lock in unseated position (lock bezel approximately 1/8 inch above halo light ring), rotate key counterclockwise to Lock position, then remove key.
    4. Remove ignition lock from ignition switch.
  1. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    1. Connect two wiring connectors to ignition switch. Ensure switch locking tabs are fully seated in connectors.
    2. Install ignition switch on steering column.
    3. On column shift models, shift lever must be in P position and park lock dowel pin on ignition switch assembly must engage with column park lock slider linkage.
    4. On all models, verify ignition switch is in Lock position (flag parallel with ignition switch terminals).
    5. Apply a dab of suitable grease to flag and pin, then position park lock link and slider to mid-travel.
    6. Position ignition switch against lock housing face. Ensure pin is inserted into park link contour slot.
    7. Install ignition switch retaining screws and torque to 12-22 lb-in .
    8. With ignition lock and switch in Lock position, insert ignition lock into ignition switch until it bottoms.
    9. Insert key, then while carefully pushing ignition lock toward ignition switch, turn key clockwise to Run position.
    10. Check for proper operation on ignition switch in all positions.
