2001 ford windstar runs fine except when driving in wet weather car runs rough and occasionally stalls.
When cars run poorly in rain it usually means wires are getting wet and shorting out. This keeps the electric from getting to the plugs and other vital switches. I would replace the plug wires and plugs. Also check if there is any missing "splash guard" under the front of the car. Most have a flap of black plastic to keep water from getting all over the electrical parts.
Spray coil pack with silicone spray
I had the same problem and was able to fix mine in less than 2 hours for about $25. Buy a roll of butyl tape. (Ask at the parts store) It is the stuff they use to put around a new windshield for waterproofing. Your going to need about 15 feet. and your going to need to do this in a garage or on a warm day.
Take off the the windshield wipers. Take off the top cover 4 screws and it pops off. Take off the bottom resevoir cover alot more bolts but comes off in 10 minutes. I replaced the ignition coil and sparkplug wires while I had this off. If you do this make sure you number the coils and replace them one at a time so you don't get them mixed up. Use dielectric grease on the new cable ends where they connect to the spark plugs and ignition coil. Check and make sure its running good before you start to replace the covers.
To water proof, First place a ring of the butyl tape around the top of the water drain which is located next to the compartments air intake. Then place a length of the butyl tape along the top edge where the current seal is supposed to be stopping the water, where it meets near the bottom of the windshield. I left the old seal in place but in hinsdsite probably should have removed it. It still sealed ok though. Now tighten down that cover and put the bolts to the water drain back in. You should now have a nice seal on the water drain and where water runs down the windshield. On the bottom edge of that cover run a second length of butyl tape all the way across where the top cover should be sealing to the bottom (Not on the top of the cover where it meets the windshield but on the bottom so that water wont leak through the bottom edge of the reservoir)
Then snap that cover back in place put back on the windshield wipers and drive it through the car wash.
If your car still runs good after a drive through the car wash, then you did it correctly.
Its a slight pain if you have to take these covers back off to do work but its not that bad. It's better than being strtanded in the rain.
