My 97 sunfire idles fine but when you get on the gas it just jerks and jumps if you push it to the floor just dies does anyone know what could be wrong with it.?
Sounds to me like a clogged fuel filter or your fuel pump is going out.....I would check and replace the filter first......

If you have excessive white smoke coming from the vehicles exhaust, it sounds like your headgasket is failing. Especially having a rough idle too. Check your coolant level, does your exhaust smoke smell sweet, like Antifreeze? If so, the gasket has blown. Hope this helps...
