Electric windows not working. All but drivers door window(o/s/f) were working but the other morning drivers window went down by itself and now will not raise. all other windows have now stopped working which i guess could be fuse, Where is electric window fuse. Is this likely to be an eath fault. Have checked wires from drivers door to car body and repaired broken brown wire which operates n/s/f window until they stopped working. Any ideas

I have had the same issues with both power windows. The issue is the window gets stuck in the up position usually because of holding the up button too long. In all cases I have taken the door panel off loosened the window motor screws which takes the pressure off the internal gear drive of the motor, put it all back together and it works until someone holds the button too long again. I have done this 4 times and each time it fixed the problem. I guarantee the dealers know of this problem and I suspect that they fix it the same way and tell you that they changed the drive motor.

car electrics are a nightmare. the car lights up when a door is open i presume. and by bypassing the central locking. the electric computer says there is a fault. and will not start. that i think is programed in. best thing to do is. go to phone VW dealer ask about diagnostic test without repair. about £35 then fix it yourself. they garentee it right I think. the dealers have come into line better with that kind of thing phone and ask anyway.

if you can here relays when unlocking/locking check for power at door lock actuators inside doors, if you have power on lock/unlock and good earth from connector actuators are faulty.
if no power on test light when operating check output from central door lock module while operating, none coming out of module then it might need replacing.
check 30Amp power fuse for main relay under bonnet (which goes to pin 8 white/blue on module)and 10Amp gauge fuse in cab(pin 1 blue/red on module),pin 15 is also power when relay is on(red/blue) with test light, and module/ actuators.
check outputs from module pin 3 & 4
blue/red
blue/black
that go to door locks
