I have a 1999 sunfire gt and it starts runs for a second and dies,my anti theft light on my dash is not blinking it just stays on,does anybody know a way to bypass the anti theft so that my car will r

Anti theft light is on and not blinking,car runs for a second and dies,tried the key trick and it didn't work,any suggestion on how to bypass the anti theft completely by doing the work myself??

Yes, unfortunately this is very common on GM vehicles. Go to this link for everything you need. Rule of thumb is this. If the light is flashing, the problem will be In the ignition or the smart transponder key. If the light is solid, the problem is in the TDM (theft deterrent module). This is the main computer for the theft system. There is a full bypass method on this link listed under PERMANENT FIX. This is what you will need. It will bypass every aspect of the system 100%.

disconnect battery for 24 hrs so the computer will reset and if that dont work take it to chevy dealer and have them reset it manually

it sounds like the immobilizer is faulty. this will shut off the electrical feed to the starter motor. you will need to take it to a garage to get this fixed.

I'm going to assume this has the VATS system with the pellet in the key. You need to know the correct resistant of the factory pellet and bypass the system using that value. A quick google search will result in many articles on how to bypass the VATS system, as it's required when installing a remote start system in most late 80s-mid 90s GM vehicles.

GM vehicles like your sunfire are notorious for failing antitheft systems called passlock. When this system fails, you get what you have. The engine will start for 5 seconds or less and then stall and shut down. There is a dead giveaway for this problem, after it stalls you'll see a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. If you see this light, that explains your problem. Here is a link that will help you.

Not true call the dealership and speak to the service department and tell them what you did and the service tech will tell you how to reset the system. Most GM tech are very helpful. good luck

does it run 2 to 3 seconds? does the scurity light blinks? if yes leave the switch on after running 2-3 second wait till security light stops blinking then start if light still blinks you have wiring problem. if light just stay on you have spark and fuel check injactor pulse.always remember if you have good spark ,good fuel pressure and injector pulse car should start

If the theft light isn't blinking then it likely isn't the problem. Does it start and die or just crank and won't fire?
