I lost compression in my clutch due to the seal on my master slave clutch in the floor board. It got stuck in a gear although the position suggest nuetral and it will not come back out of gear and will not shift into nuetral. I replaced the Master Clutch Cylinder please don't tell me the transmission is shot it's almost like the linkage is jacked up.

hi considering age of car and that you have no leaks on hydraulics? may i suggest you try bleeding the clutch to rid of old fluid a couple of pumps may be suffice ? b/fluid does absorb moisture and heat over time hence recommendation tat fluid be changed at period specified in handbooks ie 12 monthly ?

is the clutch power assisted(vacuum)?if so couldvery well have some bearing on what is happening.I WILL TELL YOU A STOREY.A couple of months ago I changed the clutch master cyl. on my land cruiser and because I do all my own work still I didnot obey the golden rule..3days later i changed the slave cyl...l again did not obay the golden rule...... 2 days later iagain pulled the master cyl off cleaned it all out, but this time I OBEYED THE GOLDEN RULE,WHICH IS::always change the brake fluid when ever you change amaster cylinder either brake or clutch or when I was doing work for other people,if the brakes were worked on or the clutch you drained the sytem and relaced the fluid...ANY COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP THAT DOES NOT DO THIS IS GOING TO HAVE COMEBACKS ..it may only be 5or10% but for a $5container of fluid it isn` t worth the chance I was in that5 or 10 % are you? that is true, not more than 3 months ago give it some thought ....................

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

Replace both clutch slave and master cylinders, and bleed well. I've also had this happen.

ok starting where you did... on the side of the transmission itself there will be a 1/2 inch socketed plug that can be undone to add gear oil there will be another on the bottom that can be used to drain the oil. for clutch master, standard brake fluid can be used and is recommended. the causes is most likely low fluid or worn out syncros in the tranny.. check the level of fluid in the clutch system and fill and bleed system at the slave cylinder. after that check fluid in the tranny. if all there is fine then i would recommend bringing it to a trans shop for diagnosis. if the syncros are going out then you will be looking to spend between 750 and 1500 to have it rebuilt or 2000+ for a new trans
