Sometimes, my car will try to start but won't unless I push the gas pedal. What is wrong with the car? Took it to several mechanics, and they cannot find anything wrong with it. yesterday the battery totally died and wouldn't start with a jump. I had it towed to the garage and they called this morning saying it is ready and it was just the battery. Could the battery be to blame for the starting troubles i sometimes experience?
Just chiming in even though this is years old because i didnt see this answer. Theres a video on youtube and many equinox owners saying this worked.... clean the throttle body!

It sounds a lot like mine, after doing some searching online I've come to the conclusion that it's the fuel pump. This seems to be a recurrent problem with the Cavalier and Chevy is NOT offering a free fix. You have to drop the fuel tank in order to replace the pump as it is located inside the tank. The price of a new fuel pump varies as does the amount of time (quoted by various people) to complete the job. Good Luck.

first start by a simple tune up (plugs and wires) and change the fuel filter this will help alot. then i would recomend getting an injection cleannig at a firestone goodyear or any other local shops that can do this

I have an 06 Equinox with same prob. It's a common problem in these vehicles according to others.....My service guy keeps telling me nothing is wrong. I just laugh at him. Don't waste your money on a tune up. Search online for other Equinox owners.....there are more issues out there. You are not the only one.

More than likely you will need to replace the fuel pressure regulator.
