6 disk CD changer is broken!

I have a 2000 Isuzu Trooper w/ a factory installed 6 disk CD changer. It was working fine and then one day I put a CD in the changer and it wouldn't play.

The player shows that the CD is in slot two and that all the other slots are empty (which is correct). However, when I attempt to play the CD or eject the CD it will do neither. I decided to just let it keep my CD but then it started making a clicking sound each time that I turn the car on. The sound seems like the changer is trying to eject the CD but it's not able to. The clicking was 30 seconds and is now up to at least 2 minutes of clicking when the car is turned on. After that it beeps and then does nothing.

I have attempted to 'reset' the player by pushing a button in the inside left of the player w/ a bobby pin (as suggested by a friend who works on cars). That didn't eject but caused the clicking to start agan. I also tried to stick another CD in and loosen the current CD hoping it would eject, but no luck. Lastly I unplugged the battery to reset the player - again nothing but clicking.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the CD and/or remove the CD player to get the CD out. I can't afford a new CD player at the moment and would just like to stop the clicking sound!

Thank you!

I bought my 2000 trooper new and mine did the same thing a year into owning it. The dealership had to take the radio out and send it to California????, to get my C.D.s out. They put a new radio in and it did the same thing about 4 months later. I tried cleaners and resets with no luck. That was 8 1/2 years ago and I just havent used my C.D. player since then.

I had left the lights on and had to have the battery jumped. When I first noticed that the battery was down I could still hear the CD changer cyclying (I think). The CD change has always worked well. After recharging the battery, the CD changer will not work at all and I cannot get the CD holder to eject from the console. I think it was in radio mode when the battery went down. The radio, tape player, clock, etc. all work fine. Just the CD player - the button for the CD player does not change to CD mode and the disc holder part of the changer will not eject. Is there a code or could it be a fuse? Any ideas? it is a 2002 Axiom.

Hello, I just removed the 6-disc player from my 2001 Trooper. To remove it: 1) Remove the two screws above the radio area in the black faceplate 2) Remove the one screw located between the ash tray and the lighter. 3) Remove the four screws (two on each side) from the front center console cover and pull it back (you will need to shift into 2 or L) 4) Pop the black face plate off (there are some metal brackets holding it on that need some light force to pull out. Nothing should break) 5) There are two screws for the CD player and two screws for the radio. Unscrewing them will allow you to pull out the radio and disconnect the smaller CD wiring harness, then you can pull out the CD player.
When I unscrewed the CD player unit, I found that there are six plastic halos that hold each disc and move them up and down as selected. These had broken in some places and the discs had dropped to the bottom and stacked, so nothing could move...hence the clicking sound. Because there was a severe jam, nothing else could be loaded either...hence the error message. I'm attempting to superglue the pieces back together to see if I can reset it. Otherwise, I'd recommend you replace the unit (most likely what I'll do).
Hope this helps!
Ryan

2000 jeep grand cherokee limited 10 disk cd changer says ''err''

The in-trunk units have a tendancy to go bad. you can take the cover plastic interior cover off to access the CD changer, un bolt the changer, and visualy inspect the two rollers for debris, or missing /broken gears that move the rollers to take the CD from the CD cartrage to the player. if that looks fine, chances are that the laser went bad (common in rear mount units) and you can order a new one from Jeep, or you can remove it and update the in-dash head to an aftermarket of your choice (& yes you steering wheel controls will still work). you could also fit a more modern MP3 unit where the Changer was.

Bought 1998 isuzu trooper, can't work cd player and there is no cds manuel-help!!

lots of failures on these 6 disc players. if you push the numbered button the coresponding light should eventually turn green meaning its ok to load a disc. If your not sure if the player works I would recommend a copied disk or one you dont care about in case it eats it, mine did.
