I was recently driving and noticed that the truck started to run rough.When I got to my destination I noticed a rotten egg smell coming from the exhaust. Chevy said it was the cats starting to melt down so i removed them. I am still registering the p0300 so i pulled the plugs and wires and had them warrantied due to only 14,000 miles on the tune up. Wired properly still was getting the code. Checked the fuel pressure regulator and that holds pressure at 62 psi. I know my intake gaskets are leaking should I go after them as my next step. If this doesn't fix the problem what is next and where is the best place to test for a vaccuum leak on the intake manifold
Code p 0300 is random misfires ===causes ---plug/s--HT lead/s---injector/s---ignition coil/s---low compression ---wiring
replace the cat converters as they are important for proper engine tuning
the problem most likely is faulty injectors that over fuel , leak and need attention
you can fit a vacuum gauge into any vacuum hose to read the vacuum at idle ( 15 or deceleration from high rpms 25)
fluctuation reading at idle indicates problem valves
