Can I charge Intrepid battery from the jump start posts?
The Intrepid battery is really hard to access in the wheel well. Ordinarily, I would disconnect the car cables and put the battery on the bench, but removing the battery is a major hassle.
Can I just hook up the battery charger to the same posts I would jump start the car with? I know about the hydrogen gas generation (I can ventilate the car okay) but would I be damaging the car electric system?
Ultimately I charged the battery in the car by removing the air filter and housing (which is over the battery) and then removing the positive cable before applying the charger leads.
I do want to better understand by using the jumper cable posts wouldn't affect/ damage the electrical system. Can you tell me why I am worrying needlessly?
I presume from your quick and confident response that this is done all the time and I'm just thinking too hard. I'm usually a good nuts and bolts kinda person but maybe if I looked at the electrical schematic I would just it.

Battery is new will not turn over engine. Can not jump start. Battery goes dead even when engine is not running. Can start engine if connect jumper cables from battery post directly to starter solenoidal turn key then engine starts but alternator will not charge battery.Battery is new will not turn over engine. The motor home battery I couldn't teel you but if you're talking about the vattery for yhe charger, it's located in the Passenger side inside the trunk. There is a cover over it that has to be removed to get access to it. If jumping, there are posts next to the battery I believe designed just forr jumping. I would REALLY suggest just charging the motor home batteries or using a different vehicle to use. Have found on your kind of vehicle that sometimes when getting jumped or visa versa That it causes an electrical problem. there is a fuse link in the wiring directly (sort of) from the battery to the alternator. Have seen this fuse link blown a lot and MANY people change the alternator thinking the alt. is bad beause the battery goes dead not to mention the car letting you know thta there is a charging problem.Hope this helps.....
It can be jumped. Check for remote jump starting posts under the hood. If there are none, then whichever is easier: jump the battery or remove it and charge it up.
The alternator would not come into play unless the battery was dead. Could be corrosion inside one of the battery cables, or a blow maxi fuse for the fuse box. Or a bad ground connection. You would need to take a meter or test light and check for power at the starter post, and the major fuses.
Behind cover in front of wheel on passenger side, inside fender . Remove passenger front wheel for better access. Jumper points for jumping with booster cable should be labeled under hood. Usually (+)Positive at front area of passenger fender, and negative up near strut.
The battery is located below the air filter housing on the passenger
side of the vehicle. You will have to remove the shield in the wheel
well to remove the battery. You will have to remove the air cleaner to
access the top mount battery posts and the hold down attachments
Under the hood should be a Jump start /charging post that is connected to the battery. Look on the pass side for rubber caps that cover a brass post. Hook up your charger here, Red is positive, Black is the ground side or just hook the ground to any solid metal part of the engine.
Dude are you serious you ran the battery dead but dont try to just jump start it you need to take the battery posts off and clean the m make sure theres goo connection then charge the battery or jump start it if you jump it make sure you put the neg. cable on the body where it says to right next to the battery if you dont you could short the computer out then your screwed
It's in front of the right (passenger) side front wheel, there is a
removable access panel for getting it out with the wheel turned hard to
the right or removed, if looking under the hood, look down low on the right side
and you will see it.....
