Fix cruise control - 1988 Dodge B250

Here is the fuse box diagrams for the 2 different engine options...and the 2 different box locations

HOWEVER ... I do not think there is an associated fuse for cruise control. That function is totally run from your on board computer (ECM). What can make the cruise not work is if any fault codes have occurred... Has your check engine light come on?
Some people with the same problem (that do not have an OBDll scanner to read or clear codes) disconnected their battery to reset the ECM. The cruise control then worked .... but if the root cause of the fault is not fixed ... then the same thing will likely happen again

1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Measure the voltage between terminal F of the cruise control module harness connector and ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?
B+
Go to Step 3 yes
Go to Step 4 no

Measure the voltage between terminal E and terminal F of the cruise control module harness connector.
Does the voltage equal the specified value?
B+
Go to Step 5
Go to Step 6

Repair the open in CKT 339 between the fuse block and the cruise control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you complete the repair?

1. Turn the cruise switch to the ON position.
2. Measure the voltage between terminal A of the cruise control module harness and ground.

Does the voltage equal the specified value?

It seems this car has a problem with its cruise control if any of the brake lights are out or even if a bulb is flickering the cruise control will not engage. I would start my diagnosis there and also the cruise control fuse of course. hope this helps

sounds like a switch not working right in the cruise control take it back to the guy who "fixed it" and get him to "fix it" right this time,, its likley to be the brake switch sticking on, this wont let the auto cruise control engage, it keeps thinking you are trying to brake to slow down so it kicks its self out just as it should if you were driving in auto cruise you then need to reset it to go back into auto cruise

it sounds like the speed sensor in the rear differential is faulty

when the belt was replaced someone probably didnt reconnect something check all connections and fuses

Finally got mine fixed. It was a faulty Cruise Control Module..
