The car all of a sudden without warning just wont start. the battery was replaced less than a month ago. the car runs with a jump, but sputtters coming to a stop until i gas it. Once the car is shut off it wont start. lights all work inside and out. what could it be?

same thing but sometimes it starts right off; sometimes it doesn't. It's not the battery. Sometimes after you are running down the road a bit it will cut out and won't start again unless you pump the gas and keep cranking or just wait a long time. Could this be a fuel filter or fuel pump problem; it is intermittent but getting more frequent.

I will check the cam belt; haven't done so yet. Have 105,000 miles and it runs great even though it is a 2.7 engine, there is no engine sludge and no noticeable engine knock or other noisenoise; may even be a replacement engine for all I know. I only recently bought it. It doesn't exhibit any of the posted problems of the "dreaded 2.7 engine" of that year.

2005 sebring died while driving barely no oil replaced oil and now wont start

Sounds like you damaged the engine by running it without oil. Sorry but you probably need a new engine.

I have a 99 sebring lxi the atlenator belt broke so we replaced it. without the belt the car started and was fine then when we replaced it and went to crank it, it wont start

If you have been running the engine without the alternator hooked up then all the power is being provided by the battery. You may have run the battery very low and too low to crank the starter over.

As a first step see if you can jump start the car off a battery in another vehicle with the engine running in that vehicle. If the sebring starts then the fault is with the battery and it will need to be disconnected and fully charged (provided the battery is still sound) or replaced. Before you do that, remove the serpentine belt that you just replaced and check that all the pulleys connected on that belt that are being driven by the crankshaft pulley (like the alternator pulley, tensioner pulley etc etc) can all be rotated freely and have not seized up. Often belts will break because one of the pulleys it is driving has seized up.

May be odd but anti theft can shut down the injectors, check injector fuses and relay.. You could have a problem such as key magnet is bad. If you have a spare key try it, or if you have tried many times may have to look at reprogram. I really am not sure but the anti-theft has given me problem twice in the last 10 year but it was GM cars. Most important of all if you have check engine light are any trouble code you need to check it. It is the best way to narrow the search down.

Remove the front mats, especially the one on the driver's foot well. If the carpet is wet, the heater core (matrix) needs replacing. When you buy the new one, ensure the two 'O' rings are the proper type and new as well. Otherwise, the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump impeller is damaged. (Likely to hear a lot of noise from it, if so.) You can run the car without a thermostat at all if you live in temperate weather. (The gauge and fans operate from the temperature sensor which appears fine in your case as you've referred to them.)

Check the throttle plates and idle speed control motor make sure there both clean.

Also check manifold vacuum at idle the best you can hold an idle. I have run into timing belt being one tooth off and engine still ran fine. But the vacuum was low that's how I could tell the belt was a tooth off.

There is probably a feedback (noise)filter connected somwhere near the coil. the are usually a cylindrical metal filter about the size of a double a battery, usually have a single wire connecting them, there may be one for each ignition coil, the will usually burn the wire when they are bad,not always. hope this helps.

replace the distributor, not just the cap and arm but the whole thing. it is easy to replace by removing the battery and battery pan and air filter hose. I had the same problem in may of 08. replaced it and now it runs great.
