SOURCE: timing degree nissan sentra

Step1 First step is to open your hood on your vehicle and locate the distributor. Step2 Next loosen your distributor just enough that it will turn from side to side with some resistance. Step3After Loosening the distributor take a piece of chalk and mark on theharmonic balancer the timing mark so it can be seen easily. Step4Then take the timing light and connect it to the battery and the Numberone spark plug wire. Then have your helper start the vehicle while youshine the timing light on the harmonic balance and the timing mark onthe timing chainmag-glass_10x10.gif cover. Step5The Timing Light will illuminate the mark on the harmonic balancer whenthe Number one cylinder is firing. The mark should correspond to thetiming mark on the timing chain cover. You can then adjust the timingforward or backwards by rotating the distributor ever so slightly. Step6 When you have the timing where you want it then shut off the engine and carefully tighten back down the distributor without moving it.

SOURCE: Where to put the timing marks on a 96' nissan 2.4 liter

the timing chain tensioner is hydraulic and either out of adjustment or defective.  You need to remove the timing chain cover and reset the mechanical correlation between the crankshaft and the camshafts.  also the other ignition time marks are on the crankshaft harmonic balancer and the cam cover.  Do not crank the engine with the timing out of sequence or you'll destroy the engine.

Where are the timing marks for a 1998 Nissan sentra gxe

most vehicles have a crank timing mark which sit on the crank pulley, its the big pulley at the bottom of the motor
the cam pulley should also have a mark on the pulley if its belt driven that should line up with a notch on the head or tappet cover
if its chain driven you will need to remove the tappet cover and your cam sprockets will have marks on them that must line up facing each other or facing level with the sides of the head

I NEED DIAGRAM OF TIMING CHAIN MARKS FOR A 05 1.8 S SENTRA

The chain has a total of82 links. You should have at least 1 link that is marked. Place that one on the mark of your crankshaft. Now going up to the intake side there will be 29 links between the cam colored link and the intakes colored link. Now go up the other way to your exhaust cam. There will be 34 blank links and then the colored one for the exhaust cam. Afterwords you should have 11 links between the marked cam links. I hope this will help all of the dozens of folks who had or has the same issue.

How do you set the timing on a 94 Nissan Sentra?

There is 3 marks on the timing chain, 2 are exactly 16 links apart and the other is 22 from either of the 2. The engine should be at top dead center. Line the 2 (16 apart) marks with marks on your cam gears and the 3rd with your crank gear. Torque cam bearings to 100 inch lbs.
