I let my son drive my 06 Cadillac DTS and he said he ran out of gas. NOW WHEN I drive it it won't cut off or nothing but when I try to restart it it starts sometimes and then the other times its acting like the fuel isn't making it through the filter. Should I change the filter or the fuelpump

Check your fuel pump fuse these will blow when the pump is ran with the tank empty. If this does not work you probably burned up the pump. check to see if you can hear the pump run when you turn the key on. Please rate.

I'd start by tracing the fuel supply and return lines from the gas tank to the engine compartment. Make sure that they are free of kinks or other damage.

Next, check the fuse box and make sure there is power to the fuel pump. Trace the electrical connections leaving the fuel tank and make sure they weren't torn or otherwise damaged by the tire tread.

first all i do all of the repairs on my cars and i have got a bad fuel pump once but i would like for you to checkout all of the wire and make sure they are right and after make sure the fuel pump relay is good and the fuse for the sending is good
