I have a 1999 tahoe 4x4 .It has a weird sound comes from rear . It looks like a horn sound but it is not .It looks like as you using the horn just for a second. It happens when I step on the gas little bit hard and suddenly. Also, it happens when driving on bumpy roads ,desert, and turning left or right .I have asked many mechanics .Some said, it is differential and axles . Others said , it is suspension . Really I need help for this problem . thanks

Hey Salvador,
I do need more details as to what is wrong with your differential... bearings, gears, carrier,,,???
Please repost and give more details...
If you have a local drag strip near you, go there, ask who is the best mechanic around.... than ask him about finding a good mechanic that can repair and set-up a rear end..... drag racers know how to repair and set-up rear differentials!!
If you lose the speedometer, replace the rear differential speed sensor on top. If the speedo is ok, then it's your ABS pump/solenoid unit in the engine compartment left rear side. Most of the 99's have only the rear ABS, not front so don't look at the front brakes for the issue.
From what I have read this sounds like a problem with the second speed sensor located on back at the rear axel on top of the differential. If the cable is loose or the sensor is bad it will cause the brake light to come on and the speedometer to act funny. There are two speed sensors...one in the transmission and the one on the differential. The second one is probably the problem.
Smoke coming out from the middle of the two rear tires right? Sound like your rear differential is out of lubricant. Leftover lubricant is probably getting burned by heat from the friction. Have your rear differential lubed up.
you should check the motor and trans mounts if any ofthese are bad the motor could be shifting around and letting the fan rub the shroud wich could give you a noise
