I would say it is a map sensor. It will cut off in 5 miles or 35 miles. You just never know. It always starts back until the next time, no trouble.

Ambient air temp sensor could be the cause. Normally located in front grille area.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT OIL WEIGHT. SOME WEIGHT CHANGES IN COLDER WEATHER IT WILL BE IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL.2ND BATERYS TEND TO HAVE A 3 YEAR LIFE DO A LOAD TEST ON BATTERY AND I THINK YOU WILL FIND YOUR PROBLEM

The correct timing would be what the sticker says. However, if there is considerable mileage on the timing chain then your timing would be off even when set with a timing light because the chain will stretch with usage. The more miles on the engine, the more stretch in the chain. To myknowledge there is no formula to determine how much extra advance to use to compensate for that stretch. Advance your timing a couple of degrees at a time until you can find a satisfactory amount of power and still have the engine start easily. If it starts to turn over hard,especially when hot you have gone too far, back your timing off a little. Or you could replace the timing chain and gears as a set. Hopethis helps.

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.

Try changing the fuel filter, water trapped in it can freeze. Its a 92 and probably time for a fuel pump. They don't like water either.(Meythonol Fuel) Always change fuel filter when adding antifreeze to fuel

i don't think the catalyst has something to do with the ac. you mentioned you are in africa and i am assuming it is positive 50 degrees celcius and not negative 50 degrees celcius as stated in your post. i could see a dash before the number 50.

anyway, there is a pressure switch that would de-activate your compressor once the high pressure reaches an abnormal level. and this level could easily be reached at 50 degrees celcius ambient temperature. so it seems there is nothing you can do about it.

i could suggest that you put an adittional fan if you still don't have, to cool the condenser further.
or just try to cool the condenser, while parked, turn the ac on, and doze the condenser with water and observe if the ac would still cut off. if it does not, then the problem is your ambient temperature.
