Tail lights wont work

The tail lights wont work when the vechile is on. Brake lights, blinkers, lights on the front of car work, bright lights work. When we turn on the lights the tail lights dont come on? We checked the fuses and put new blubs in. Any help would greatly be appericated.

Chev. Cav. '94. Front all works. Back: brakes, flashers, turn signals all work properly. Tail lights do not go on when lights are turned on. Changed them, changed fuse under front, all small fuses, tail lights still won't go on.

If you look at the bulbs that work the brake ans parking car lights, you'll see that their is 2 fillaments in side. One is for the brake light and the other is for parking light, and one might be burned out so one will work and the other will not. I would just try to change them and see if that would work. If it don't work some thing in the wire is not working like it should.

Sounds like ground problem- remove tail lights and look for wires going to body -remove screww clean grounding area and replace- both sides. You did not say whether the lights work when car is off? With car off and brake pedal pushed is there any brake lights ? If not procede with above.

Blinker/Tail Light Issue

The Bulbs Have 2 filliments in them if 1 is burnt out that would give you the fast not working tail light there may be an issue with the brake light switch located above the brake pedal on the arm.

The brake lights wont work. The brake light over

the break light wire on the lumina runs through the blinker switch or multifunction switch on the colum.. check there as well as at the tail light sockets. on the late 90s gm cars the sockets had a tendancy to rot away... use a test light at the brake light wire in the trunk and have a friend apply the break. if there is power then may have to get new tail lights. or replacement bulbs.
