1998 audi a4 1.8t has lost take off acceleration, also does not seem to accelerate like it should at highway speeds. no warning lights, idles smooth. could this turbo problem?
It's possible that the diverter valve (DV) has failed. The OEM valve has a plastic diaphragm inside and it can crack. If this happens, the car will leak boost air and will lose power as a result. Go to www.audiworld.com, click on Resources, then Tech, and then go to the engine article about replacing/upgrading the diverter valve - it'll show you where it is and how to do it.
I have not changed fuel filter, bought car used just afew months ago.
SOURCE: no acceleration, audi 1.8t,runs like no boost

I dont have an engine light either. I think it miiiight be a clogged cat. But ill see
hi i also have bad acceleration, lack of power, high fuel use, so far ive changed fuel fillter, coils, turbo, maf, o2 sensor, plugs, checked timeing, air filter, checked all by pass valves, hoses , vacum lines, fuel presure.
drive the car at 55 mph reads 18 mpg, change into 4th reads 12mpg, this is not good, also cleand tbh and in take sensor, water temeture sender is fine, when replaced turbo cat also looks fine, also has good compression, thought about the ecu, but someone has also tried that and made no diffrence. i hope there is someone out there with an answer thankyou for any input anyone has.
When did you last change the fuel filter, is the fuel pressure ok under a load like on hard acceleration?
