Car wont start after I ran out of gas

I ran out of gas in my driveway earlier today. So tonight my sister wanted to borrow my car. She went and got a gallon in a tank and went put it in my car. Then, when she went to start it, it acted like the battery was dead. So, I tried jumping it off.... nothing. It won't crank. The headlights come on bright and all, but no vroom vroom! I had a good connection with the cables I am pretty sure. I was told to put at least a couple of gallons in, so I put three gallons. I turned the key to the on position several time and that also did not work.

Take off the smaller wire off the starter motor. Put the key in the start position and hold it there for a few seconds. Listen for the fuel pump running. If you hear it running then it feels like it stopped, then let go of the key and reinstall that wire on the starter motor. It should start.

Use a bottle of yellow HEET dry gas / fuel dryer to remove moisture in your fuel tank.

Check the coil + wires for water / moisture drip / wetness.

Check for spark-if you have a tachometer, see if when you crank it the tach needle moves-if not, you probably need a crank sensor, which are not too expensive or difficult to replace.

Today at my sisters house lightning struck her sprinkler system and now my car wont start. And my car was parked in her driveway. Her husbands car is not starting also.. My light work it just wont start......

The security system (VATS/PassKey) is faulty.
There is an easy DIY way of bypassing the VATS system entirely, including the TDM (that goes faulty very often with the age of the car). You can find the write-up here:http://newrockies.ca
