SOURCE: how to get key out that is stuck in ignition

Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out

SOURCE: Key stuck, won't turn, won't shift...replace ignition switch?

Try to shift your key in either direction while try to turn your steering in left and right direction. May be its steering lock which is attached to your ignition key preventing shifting of key. If not, then its obviously your ignition that has gone.
If you decide to change ignition then as a last try Dip your key in lubricating oil and then insert in ignition to turn it on. May be it can help.

I put the wrong key in an audi q7. how do i get it out?

this is going to be a case of a little brute force and a lot of luck, get hold of the key with a pair of pliers and pull, firmly keeping the direction straight, hopefully will come out and not break, or take to a dealer who may well be able to strip down the ignition and remove it that way , your choice and good luck

Removing stuck key from audi q7 ignition

  • To release the stuck key, press the small, recessed button located on the outer ring of the ignition barrel using a small screwdriver or paperclip wire.
  • The cause may be due to a misaligned "Tiptronic" shifting assembley, or a failed sensor in the shifting assembly.
