Resetting computer on 2008 chevy cobalt

Hi Rich,
I have reset computers on my vehicles by removing the battery terminal, and then contacting the two terminals together for a few seconds - away form the battery. This should take any residual charge from the car system, and computer.
Wait a couple of minutes, then re-connect the terminals to the battery. Usually this loses the stored stations on your radio, so have the security codes ready to reset your radio.
Hope this helps you.

Battery not charging disconnect battery car still runs

First you should know that disconnecting the battery with the engine running on a car with an alternator can cook the alternator as well as the computer.
If the car cranks with the battery connected, but you are not showing voltage increasing as the engine runs, I would look for a fuseable link problem between the two points.

Resetting throttlebody on 1998 be jetta glx

you can reset it by removing negative battery terminal while leaving positive terminal connected . open driver side door get in close door , put key in ignition turn over key almost all the way but do not start . you should here the throttle body aligning itself . leave key in this position for 15 seconds , remove key connect negative terminal and the throttle body should be set . this has been called the chicken dance and it works fine . what this does is resets the computer , key note though if you are planning to get your car inspected it will not pass until you have drove the car for at least 300 miles . being that the computer has to go through and set everything . i learned the hard way . throttle body problems usually happen when removing old battery improperly/battery being drained/improperly or jump starting the car/improperly , make sure when removing battery that the positive terminal is removed first , jumping a battery negative terminal is always connected first on both vehicles .

Battery cell is dead in my rx 300 lexus 2001 .

Are Lexus' known for the computer resetting when replacing the battery? If your really worried that the computer will reset... OK, hold on. First let me say that I don't think the computer is going to reset although I have heard of a few instances where "prolonged" time without any power to the computer will cause it to have to be re-initialized by a dealership technician. I give you my advice with great caution. Please, if you do not feel completely confident doing this, then please don't. Here it goes: Use jumper cables to connect your Lexus battery terminals to another vehicles battery. Carefully remove your old battery being careful not to let the positive terminal contact anything conductive, maybe rap it in a plastic bag and duct tape or something. When you install the new battery, connect the negative terminal before the positive. Good luck and please be careful. If you are a smoker, never smoke near an automobile battery... they have been known to explode.
